Li-Cycle is seeking Process Engineers to act as the Process Engineering Leads and eventual Project Manager for a new technology moving through our commercialization pipeline.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as the Process Engineering Lead with unit process knowhow for leaching, solvent extraction, crystallization, ion exchange, filtering, pumping, agitation, chemicals, utilities, etc.
- Be the person with in-depth knowledge on design calculations, design criteria, and the compilation and execution of equipment lists and calculations.
- Problem-solving process related issues in the flowsheet.
- Assessing the processes, taking measurements and interpreting data through plant audits, surveys, sampling campaigns, and circuit optimization.
- Maintaining the Process Flow Diagrams, along with associated mass and energy balance calculations.
- Writing technical reports and engineering documentation.
- Mathematical modelling and simulations.
- Improvement of the process control logic adhering to appropriate safety standards, and documentation into Functional Descriptions.
- Implementing metallurgical test programs to improve the performance of the process.
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures for new initiatives/projects.
- Reporting (daily, etc) and input into planning (weekly and rolling three month).
- Liaison with the Operation leadership and Li-Cycle R&D team.
Job Qualifications:
- Process Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering degree.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in design, commissioning and/or operational experience of hydrometallurgical processing equipment.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
Core Competencies:
- Technical knowledge and practical experience of operations in chemical systems, preferably within the field of hydrometallurgy.
- Understanding of Process Safety Management systems.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- A can-do, hands-on approach and able to work well to prioritize workload.
- Proven ability to work with a team.
- Flexible, adaptable, collaborative and passionate, willing to work across the design, start-up and operations teams.
- High-level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Consistently delivers quality work on time, with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional oral communication, writing and editing skills.
- Knowledge of engineering workflow process and industry process related software, codes and standards
