This is an intermediate – level position. The primary responsibilities of the Tower Technician 2 are safely and efficiently working at heights of 6-250 feet and in and around compound to install or maintain telecommunications equipment and facilities. Incumbents of this position will travel to job locations out of the Portland Metropolitan area for up to 90% of the time for their job duties.
Wage Range: $25.00-$30.49 / hour. Per Diem $50 / night while working out of town. This position is eligible for up to 40 hours of PTO annually plus National holidays, and 401k program and 3% contribution matching after 90 days.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (*)
(60%) 1. Identify hazards and alert management in order to maintain a safe work environment. Perform and supervise maintenance and construction work on elevated structures; including rigging, hoisting, and using hand tools at heights; on tower compounds, foundations, and grout including fencing, grounding, grout removal and sandblasting, and road / landscape work; site and truck cleanup, housekeeping.
(15%) 2. Inspect, organize, delegate and/or execute driving truck and trailer duties. Maintain and inspect all safety gear and rigging and ensure climbers are performing their PPE inspections.
(5%) 3. Operate or supervise the use of heavy machinery and equipment when necessary.
(20%) 4. Read and understand CD's and site plans. Document work and upload photos to cloud-based work order system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated skills: Proficient in rigging, climbing, hand tool operation, pneumatic tool operation, and mag drill operation; ability to operate heavy equipment (manlift, skid steer; Auger). Attention to detail; professional communication; leadership by example and adherence to company policy is expected while working in small teams
Ability to: Lead and supervise team during work in inclement weather conditions; safely perform work at heights; identify all potential hazards and report back to management. lift 50 – 75 pounds; drive a truck and trailer. Extensive stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, working in outdoor conditions.
Working knowledge of: Elevated Climbing techniques. Use of hand tools; power tools; specialized tools required for drilling and cutting on telecommunications structures; rigging; hoisting; elevated rescue techniques.
Advanced knowledge of: Tower modifications; grout work; safety climb installations; applicable ANSI standards; ASSE standards; steel assembly standards and best practices; advanced first aid.
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent Preferred
Experience: 1 - 2 years general construction experience and / or 1 year as a Tower Technician 1 within Lexicom.
Professional Certification: OSHA 10, First Aid / CPR.
Internal Training required to Attain level: Competent Rigger; Competent Climber; Competent Rescuer; Complete Mag Drill Operation Orientation; Complete Grout Removal and Sandblasting Orientation; Competent Capstan Operator; Complete Safety Climb Installation Orientation.
