Job Description
The Lewiston Lions are excited to announce an opportunity to add a dynamic team member to our teaching staff! We are currently looking to fill our 3-4th Grade Classroom Teacher position. Historic Lewiston is a rural community located on the banks of the Wild & Scenic Trinity River at the foot of the majestic Trinity Alps Wilderness with recreation opportunities everywhere you look. Lewiston Elementary School is an adorable little campus located above the town, with a view of the Trinity Alps in the distance. Over the last few years, we have been building a new generation of our Lion Pride team, including Superintendent Mary Thoreson who starts her third year at Lewiston this coming fall. We are now looking for a 3 – 4 grade teacher to join our organization. In addition to the listed salary range, we are offering up to a $ 3,000 moving allowance. Teachers are employed for the school term (180 days) plus 2 days before and 2 days after the school term. Qualified candidates will possess a valid California teaching credential for the grade level assignment. Additional special education credential preferred but not required. The following list outlines the job duties for this assignment. Plan and instruct the students in subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature and responsible citizens. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and the adopted academic performance standards. Must establish clear educational objectives for all lesson units and projects. Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Bulletin boards and other displays must be appropriate to the maturity and interest levels of the students. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the students. Maintain classroom discipline and control. Will encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. Implement through instruction and action the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals and objectives. Be cognizant of student safety, school rules, district policy, and administrative regulations and enforce and uphold them as required. Participate in MAA Medical coordination and claims administration and training. Assist in the selection of curricular material and equipment. Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning goals and objectives and methods of implementation. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with students, parents and members of the staff. Attend and participate in educational related functions outside of the regular instructional day when required within reason. Attend and participate in all meetings of the faculty. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for instructional assistants and volunteers. Responsible for the supervision of students in the classroom, on the playground and at other school related functions.
