Job Summary:

The Energy Services Market Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining/updating the Leeward merchant curve and the fundamental models for commodities to which the portfolio is exposed (Compliance and Green-e RECS, Energy, Capacity). The Market Analyst will support pending transactions (merchant or PPAs) with risk and scenario analysis and develop recommendations as needed. The Market Analyst will assist the team with developing statistical models to support Day-Ahead bidding strategies across all markets. Furthermore, the Analyst will be responsible for budget forecasting and updating and maintaining the Risk Reports. Additionally, the Market Analyst will track changes in market conditions and regulatory environment and determine impact to portfolio and proposes risk management as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Create and maintain long-term power market and price projections in U.S power markets of interest to Leeward.
  • Provide asset specific price projections for investment, hedging and planning purposes.
  • Conduct scenario analysis for potential transactions, PPA, hedges, etc.
  • Develop and provide power market insights supporting project development and power marketing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain market models, market data and model assumptions for the relevant commodities in the Leeward portfolio. (Energy, Capacity, RECs, Ancillary Services)
  • Monitor power market outlook developments in U.S., and other power markets of interest to Leeward
  • Provide advice and analytics to support project development, merchant hedging and budgeting.
  • Work collaboratively with development, trading, strategy and operations
  • Lead/support REC portfolio management. Key areas of focus include registry management, contract execution, counterparty invoicing, Green-E annual attestations, PPA obligation management, and working with Portfolio Finance on distributions spreadsheets, among other key tasks.
  • Support Energy Management and Power Markets to collaborate on historical analysis and price/growth trends.
  • Manage team consulting/analytics subscriptions including but not limited to Ventyx, Genscape, Wood Mac, Yes Energy, Power World, etc.
  • Compile and disseminate the team's Weekly Trading Summary and Monthly reports.
  • Update fundamentals/analysis with regular updates to weather outlook, transmission changes, ISO market policies, etc.
  • Develop and maintain statistical model as it relates to Day Ahead and Real Time bidding for the Merchant Portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience as an analyst on energy trading desk.
  • Ability to analyze and organize data to drive solutions and action plans.
  • Ability to develop, build and maintain models.
  • Strong knowledge of Statistics and data modeling.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple information requests.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organize work flows.
  • Must hold Bachelors Degree in Business or STEM.
  • Proficient with Exel, Power Point and Word
  • Experience in R studio, Python, and other statistical models is preferred

Physical Demands:
  • Position will require sitting for long periods of time as well as occasionally lifting up to twenty-pound boxes.
