Job Description

Learning Explorer is the award-winning K-12 digital learning platform that enables educators to build high-quality interactive lessons from over 2.5 million curated educational resources, videos, and activities provided in the platform, as well as digital resources currently licensed by their school or district from commercial content providers and favorite district, school or teacher resources. These interactive lessons are delivered to students inside learning management systems (LMSs) in use at the school or district via our system integrations such as Google Classroom, Canvas, and Schoology.


Due to our rapid growth and the associated importance of aggressively advancing the product technology and features, we are seeking a highly capable Senior Software Engineer to elevate our engineering capability and execute our strategic technology investments.


You will be working in an engineering team to enhance existing product capabilities and also build the next generation of the product to support our strategic company vision and growing customer base.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example: write code well and participate in code reviews.
  • Solve technical problems of the highest scope, complexity, and ambiguity.
  • Collaborate and make proposals for new initiatives.
  • Help team members make informed decisions in alignment with strategic plans.
  • Guide conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration within the team.
  • Expose technology and organizational needs.
  • Apply agile principles effectively.
  • Improve support for NFRs.
  • Elevate our QA mindset.
  • Reduce and minimize technical debt.

Skills and Professional Experience:

  • Experience with implementing complex tech projects.
  • Know how to build products and features from scratch.
  • Results-oriented, highly motivated, strategic thinker, able to deep dive and lead execution.
  • Proven capability to meet agreed-upon deadlines while managing delivery expectations.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-versed in a wide variety of engineering principles and the modern technology landscape.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience with React and Node.js.
  • Experience with AWS services and containerization architecture.
  • A minimum of 5 years of working on Enterprise projects with a successful track record.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Strong K-12 domain knowledge preferred.
