A full-service medical communications agency in Central NJ is seeking an ACCOUNT DIRECTOR/SUPERVISOR to support their growing business. This agency is a privately held, entrepreneurial shop with tremendous growth potential for the right candidate. Candidates are required to have pharmaceutical medical communications experience; candidates without agency side experience will not be considered by our client.

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000

Mandatory Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or higher plus 5+ years of account/project/client management role specifically for a pharmaceutical agency


  • Strong experience working on strategic brand initiatives for pharmaceutical marketing clients
  • Successful track record in managing/growing pharmaceutical marketing client business
  • "Client facing"
  • Strategic experience as it relates to pharmaceutical marketing
  • Track record of managing and mentoring junior client services/account staff
  • Experience and familiarity with medical legal review process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Dynamic personality
  • Ability to work well under limited supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with potential late nights and weekend time, as necessary, and travel required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop tactics, scope of work, proposals, and budgets in support of the annual plan
  • Maintain client content through regular status meetings, face to face engagements, and teleconferences
  • Respond to urgent client requests and update/drive team internally to complete
  • Understand therapeutic category, product data, key messages, and competitive marketplace to evaluate content and speak intimately with client on pressing issues outside of singular project scopes
  • Identify opportunities for business growth
  • Support efforts of the executive team in both new pitches and business generation

Project Management:

  • Supervise and/or manage projects according to timelines to ensure project deadlines are met
  • Manage/update client on status, delays, additional reviews or data needed, and budget implications
  • Kick off meetings with internal/with client; timeline development
  • Oversee/support content development, content reviews and presentation to client
  • Request and track feedback/approvals from client
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of client-specific med/legal/regulatory review process
  • Work with operations to coordinate/prepare all submissions
  • Review all changes received from med/legal/regulatory review and identify inconsistencies, challenges to strategy, etc. with client
  • Identify resource needs/challenges to senior management
  • Lead team in project re-prioritization and provide proactive resourcing solutions

Financial Management:

  • Develop budgets according to client-specific templates to support annual plan for each client
  • Ensure solid understanding of client’s financial management/invoicing/budget submission requirements
  • Monitor budgets regularly and initiate proactive budget discussions with team/client when necessary
  • Lead monthly finance meetings in conjunction with finance manager
  • Manage the delivery of project phasing/accruals and/or invoicing schedule
