Lead RF Cellular Network Research Engineer

Location: Green Bay, WI

FT - Direct Hire - Full Benefits package

$90,000-120,000 depending on experience.

At this time, no sponsorship is available.

Relocation is available for the right individuals.

  • Master of Science Electrical Engineering degree or comparable experience required.

Leading Edge Worldwide, LLC has an exciting Full Time, Direct Hire opportunity Lead Wireless Network Research Engineer in Green Bay, WI area. The Lead Wireless Network Research Engineer will lead RF engineering group in technical expertise to deploy and operate LTE systems.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Planning and dimension of LTE wireless system deployment.
  • Determine performance impacts of LTE systems overlay on 3G systems and develop solutions for improvement.
  • Learn, understand and apply working knowledge of 3GPP standards to practice and problem resolution for LTE networks.
  • New 3GPP feature analysis, testing and application to wireless network.
  • Learn how to implement high performance LTE systems with the corporations varied spectrum holdings within its spectrum geography. Codify techniques for practice among peers in the RF group.
  • Perform propagation analysis of LTE systems using Mentum. Tune propagation models and develop methods to validate using data collected in the field.
  • Work with RF engineering group to develop plan to migrate to small cells and HetNet to accommodate growth beyond initial LTE deployment.
  • Participate and help plan lab testing methods to demonstrate use of field measurement techniques in a controlled environment to discover system attributes that can be improved or exploited to improve system performance.
  • Develop metric review method to assist the NMC staff in processing large volume information so they can pass down a reduced set of relevant data related to network performance issues.
  • Manage RF Engineering Analysis position:
  • Participate in hiring of this key position
  • Oversee selection of software analysis tools for predictive analysis
  • Identify all vendor license attributes for LTE radio system, monitor consumption and utilize software modeling tools for predictive analysis to determine exhaust point. Provide input for budgeting to Director to ensure RAN network has sufficient capacity to accommodate planned growth.
  • Establish database tools that can be used for LTE analysis and leveraged to other parts of the group to contribute to overall system improvement.
  • Interact with vendors as necessary for job function
  • Assist in documentation of processes and procedures
  • Participate and contribute to RF group learning

Requirements:

  • Master of Science Electrical Engineering degree or comparable experience required.
  • In addition, five years RF Engineering design and optimization required.
  • Prior leadership experience or leadership classes preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

There will be some travel in this position to their different cell sites/locations and then to conferences/training, as needed.

Work hours will vary based on the demands of the business/projects the team is working on and will likely be a combination of days/nights/weekends. A lot of changes occur overnight so initially we would want some night time availability during these rollouts but this would be something the individual could delegate to others down the road. It’s a very collaborative work environment, but this position will have a fair amount of independent work, as well. This individual will work closely with the RF Engineering team which is a team of 12 (including this position and 2 Directors).
