Job Title: Fabrication/Cabinetry Technician
Reports To: Fabrication Supervisor
Under direct supervision, learns and performs the basic skills and functions related to fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other composite and wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fabricate and assemble composite and wood parts to tolerances as specified on drawings.
Locate and lay out trim lines onto work piece
- Trim, drill, ream, countersink, grind, and finish composite and or wood parts to specifications using hand or power tools
- Verify dimensions of parts, using precision instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers and calipers
- Fabricate cabinetry components for the aviation industry.
- Use body fillers to fill composite panels for paint and or veneers.
- Bond and/or assemble subassemblies to form final assemblies
Install hardware, such as hinges, hinge blocks, panel pins, inserts etc.
Mix ingredients, such as resins, catalysts, fillers, and/or accelerators according to manufacturer’s instructions
Perform other shop duties as required
Education, Training, Skills and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Ability to read and interpret technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer’s instructions.
Ability to perform basic math calculations
Attention to detail is strongly required for this position
Must be able to work independently
