Job Description

Job Title: Composite Fabrication Technician

Department: Operations

Reports To: Composite Supervisor

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Summary:

 As a result of our growth, we are looking for hard working individuals to join our team. The positions we currently have available are for Layup Technicians in our composite manufacturing shop. No manufacturing experience is necessary, training provided however experience a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic lay-up techniques (with or without core) using pre-preg material and wet lay-up

  • Use basic hand tools in a safe and efficient manner in order to shape and form simple components

  • Perform basic math computations, to include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.  Square Foot and Linear Yard calculations

  • Prepare composite components for curing process by applying proper vacuum bagging methods and procedures

  • Ensure parts meet all quality standards and guidelines prior to presenting for inspection

  • Quality of work meets expectations**

  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and comply with all safety regulations (PPE, MSDS, etc.)

  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings

  • Ability to sharpen/care for company issued scissors

  • Work Orders and customer documentation is complete, accurate and legible

  • Requires moderate supervision

  • Perform other duties as required

Education, Training, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 0-2 years experience in layup techniques training is provided.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical data such as blueprints or manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Ability to perform basic math calculations

  • Attention to detail is strongly required for this position

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time

  • Speak clearly so listeners can understand

  • Be able to understand the speech of other people

  • Hear sounds and recognize the differences between them

  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls

  • Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry bulky or heavy objects

  • See details of objects whether they are nearby or far away

  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness

  • Be physically active and use muscles for long periods without getting tired or out of breath.
