LeMans Corporation, the leading global distributor of motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV/UTV and personal watercraft parts and accessories headquartered in Janesville, Wisconsin has an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist.

Overview

The Payroll Specialist is accountable for processing biweekly payroll and maintaining employees’ time records. The Generalist is responsible for ADP configurations. This position assists in the onboarding of new hires.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for preparing internal and external reports.

Essential Functions

  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions
  • Issues or reissues physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge
  • Provides technical set up of payroll related items: pay rules, pay codes, earning/deduction codes, federal/state/local taxes
  • Configures and tests complex payroll changes, troubleshoots system problems
  • Conducts validation of payroll transmissions
  • Reconciles payroll
  • Researches and interprets multi-state tax requirements
  • Collaborates in the filing of multi-state payroll tax returns
  • Initiates bank transfers for payroll taxes
  • Provides operational support to HR/Accounting and have a good understanding of accounting principles
  • Provides training/assistance to employees with time access and managers with time approval authority
  • Handles payroll inquiries
  • Provides customer service by maintaining a positive, friendly professional, and patient attitude at all times
  • Manages specific project assignments and participate in cross-functional tasks as assigned
  • Makes recommendation for change/process improvement which includes research and collaboration between HR and Accounting
  • Assist in internal and external audits
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes tasks and schedule to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Prepares internal and external reports
  • Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits
  • Maintains strict confidentiality at all times
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Non-essential functions

  • Assists other HR team members as needed

Required Qualifications and Education

  • 3+ years’ of related payroll work experience
  • Associates degree or 3+ years equivalent work experience
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Experience in processing multi-state payroll tax returns
  • Experience in processing payroll for employer size of 500+
  • Hands on experience with ADP or Kronos
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, Access
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management, and problem solving skills, strict attention to detail
  • Functional knowledge of benefits, compensation, and employee relations
  • Exceptional level of responsibility, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Strong teamwork ethics
