Position Summary
LCLC is seeking a highly experienced Grant Writer. The Grant Writer is responsible for the full range of grant development activities for the organization. These activities include researching, writing, formatting, and submitting compelling, high-quality grant proposals to funding agencies (federal, state, and local government; private foundations; and corporations). The Grant Writer is responsible for all phases of grant development, evaluation, and compliance, including research, pre-award grant writing, the coordination of grant applications, post award support for grant-funded projects, managing the grant reporting process, and successfully closing out grant projects with final budget and report outcomes to stakeholders. You will also assist with other fundraising activities such as our annual benefit, capital campaign efforts, and year-end campaign. Your experience should demonstrate a proven track record of securing grant funding; comprehensive fundraising knowledge, and the ability to identify opportunities for LCLC programs.

Responsibilities
- Identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, local and private funding agencies. Write high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents.
- Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals
- Serve as a liaison to all funding agencies and organizations
- Provide all necessary research for successful grant submission
- Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals
- Follow up on the progress of submitted proposals
- Maintain grants calendar
- Develop and maintain a repository of information on funding sources, grant writing, and other relevant data to the agency's programs and services
- Work in collaboration with the data, finance, and program teams on all grant reporting including writing, editing, and submitting reports
- Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
- Assist development team with other fundraising activities such as annual benefit, newsletters, on-site tours, year-end campaign, capital campaign, etc.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities including searching for funding sources, writing proposals, managing existing grants, reporting to stakeholders, and working on special projects
- Understand LCLC history and programs, structure, objectives, and financial needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing required
- Experience writing and submitting foundation, corporate, and government grants
- Previous federal grant application, submission, approval and management of funds
- Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
- Knowledge of criminal justice and/or violence prevention preferred; nonprofit experience preferred
- Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; a persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Multitasking, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
- Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Understanding of and commitment to LCLC's vision, mission, and values
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Canva a plus
- Willingness to live in North Lawndale, Austin, East Garfield Park, Little Village, Englewood, or Auburn/Gresham preferred but not required
