Job Description

The Alaka’ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Biomedical Research Coordinator to provide mission support services to the US Air Force 711 Human Peformance Wing (HPW) out of Baltimore, MD.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate and participate in all operational aspects of basic science, pre-clinical, device, simulation, cadaver, and clinical research projects conducted by the DoD, Air Force Research Laboratory and University of Maryland.
  • Assess, prepare, complete, coordinate and submit protocol related documents to both local and military Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
  • Screen subjects/patients for study enrollment, assist in obtaining informed consent, data collecting and maintaining databases.
  • Review and extract data from existing military and civilian databases for research and quality improvement. Maintain research databases utilizing various software types.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments with University of Maryland and 711 HPW organizations at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and any other appropriate organizations.
  • Coordinate the development of data collection tools, questionnaires, databases and the application of research techniques.
  • Assist in writing and preparation of Research Grants and supporting documentation in accordance with the guidance/instructions provided in the solicitation.
  • Compile and track databases, publications, budgets, inventory, and all other research administrative, coordination or execution duties as required.
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations may be required

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience and training in clinical research, including human subjects' protections, regulatory affairs, and data collection.
  • Must have direct experience in clinical research, research coordination, preparation of grant proposal packages, education/simulation research, pre-clinical research, and a healthcare background with knowledge of patient care and medical records.
  • Must have experience managing research programs and projects, preparing draft research documents, coordinating institutional approvals, technical programmatic reviews, conducting market analysis of emerging science and technology, and supporting the collection, analysis, and reporting of research data.
  • Must be proficient in all applications of Microsoft Office and have strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Must have signed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in place with their company based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information. 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Professional administration, coordination or program management certification.
  • Formal training in basic science research, data management, principles of epidemiology, emergency health services or statistics. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess A Bachelor’s Degree in a biological, health or clinical-related science field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must pass a Tier 1 (T1) background check.
