Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Investigate how to integrate with scientific instruments and software to extract data from the instrument.
  • Investigate how to extract information from the instrument files (excel, pdf and sometimes vendor proprietary formats)
  • Interact and build a relationship with the instrument and software vendors to acquire test licenses and documentation.
  • Design and maintain data models for common classes of the instrument, and CRO data sets; harmonize the vendor-specific or vendor proprietary terms into abstract terms in the data models.
  • Deeply understand the pharmaceutical and biotech scientific workflow and data flow, namely, how scientists use data systems (LIMS, ELN, integration&visualization tools, biologic registration tools) and how these data systems are developed, configured and eventually complement scientists lab workflows and allow them to access their data efficiently and effectively.
  • Design and create a specification for data flow, for example, the logic around validation, metadata extraction, integration with ELN/LIMS/sample management and other systems.
  • Install and configure our Data Integration Platform.
  • Educate customers on the use and configuration of the Data Integration Platform.
  • Work effectively within a team, especially with software engineers, product managers, and marketing.
  • Work closely with the software development team to suggest and aid in future versions of the Data Integration Platform.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

    • Perform pre-sales investigations and prototypes of data sources, data models
  • Product Management
  • Data Engineer / Scientist
    • Build data pipelines using Python and other scripting languages
    • Build report and dashboards using Spotfire, Tableau, Jupyter notebook and etc

Requirements

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Biological Science/Bioinformatics.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience of performing R&D in a Pharmaceutical/Biotech company and familiar with common instruments (how they are used and the datasets) in an industrial environment.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a Pharmaceutical/Biotech environment within the function of R&D IT, Informatics or Business Analyst for R&D.
  • Excellent presentation skills and passionate about client communication
  • A proven track record working as part of a team delivering quality solutions.
  • Knowledge of database, data/information management and web architectures preferable.
  • Motivated, ambitious and self-starter.
  • Willing to travel as required by the job.
