About UsLatino Public Broadcasting (LPB) is a unique bridge between talented Latino filmmakers and almost any American who owns a television or smartphone. We are L.A.-based non-profit and the only media organization in the US expressly committed to bringing independent Latinx voices, narratives, and ideas to wide audiences on PBS and its streaming platforms.
LPB develops and executive-produces independent documentaries, short narrative films, digital content and more for multi-platform distribution. Annually, we seek and support passionate filmmakers of award-winning films like American Exile and Lights, Camera Accin, and new, break-out content like Joyride and Chilly and Milly. To amplify these distinct perspectives, LPB presents an average of 10 films annually for national prime time on PBS through its signature series, VOCES as well as POV, Independent Lens, American Masters, Great Performances and more. LPB supports films with all the marketing components for a successful national broadcast and streaming premiere as well as extended engagement to reach into Latinx communities.Our small, multicultural team is dedicated, nimble, and experienced. Job DescriptionThe Program Coordinator supports LPBs systems that move creative projects from ideas through multiplatform distribution to audiences nationwide. The successful candidate is a media-savvy, detail-oriented team player who thrives behind-the-scenes. An excellent writer, the PC is responsible for a monthly newsletter, web updates, and direct communication with a range of Latinx filmmakers. Known for precision and the ability to manage details, the PC will be responsible for compiling production deliverables, analytics, selection panels, media impressions, and more. Blending diplomacy, accuracy, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling, the PC position is ideal for someone looking to develop close relationships and growth in the public/independent media landscape. Finally, a sense of humor would go a long way.
Specific Duties (partial list) Coordinate LPB funding selection process, including promotion, proposal review, panel coordination and communication with filmmakers Work with Series Producer to deliver all programs to PBS including broadcast series and supplemental content. Manage production deliverables Report metrics, rating, and other data Track distribution requirements and outcomes Support marketing efforts Update the website Co-write, edit, and expand visibility of monthly e-newsletter
Required Skills and Knowledge Bachelors Degree; film, television, media or related field preferred At least 1 - 2 years experience in administration or coordination, preferably in a media organization or creative non-profit High level organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work under pressure Mid-level experience with digital marketing and social media Proven experience with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook and other pc based software (knowledge of Photoshop a plus) Excellent writing skills (verified sample required with application) Passion for and familiarity with Latinx culture, challenges, and contribution Spanish a plus (not required)
