FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Hybrid: remote with ability to work from main office and attend events as needed in Portland, Oregon and surrounding areas.

COMPENSATION: $67-$75 annual salary DOE

Latino Network seeks a bilingual, mission-driven professional with proven non-profit or social services communications experience to manage internal and external communications. The Communications Manager oversees the Communications Coordinator and works together as a team to handle agency wide internal and external communication. The ideal candidate for this role is resourceful, outcome-oriented and has strong interpersonal skills to build effective internal and external relationships.

  • Oversees development of content for use in organizational statements, email, website, and social media messaging.
  • Drafts press releases, pitches stories and interview ideas and stewards relationships with local media partners and contacts throughout the geographic service area.
  • Ensures that the leadership team, staff and volunteers are prepared for interviews with the media (managing logistics with reporters, staff and creation of talking points).
  • Serves on the agency Leadership team and represents Latino Network key committees as assigned.
  • Coordinates the production of an agency annual report.
  • Responsible for updating organizational one-pagers and department charts in partnership with HR and Evaluation staff.
  • Establishes and monitors benchmarks for measuring the growth of the community, and analyzes, reviews, and reports on effectiveness of new initiatives/strategies.
  • Establishes systems and training tools to maintain agency website in collaboration with department staff, interns and vendors.
  • Supervises and manages interns and vendor relationships to support communications needs related (but not limited to) website maintenance and graphic design.
  • With support from Manager and Director Teams, develops high quality stories for quarterly electronic external and internal newsletters, including design and distribution of newsletters.
  • Regularly captures client stories for development and marketing collateral, including program and event flyers, and organizational one-pagers.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.


By nature of our service to k-12 school districts, this position is subject to the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) mandate requiring all employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or qualification for a medical or religious exemption.   • Minimum two years non-profit or social services related communications experience. Combination of education and training in relation to past experience with Communications, from inside and outside of the United States are considered equally. Transferable skills and lived experience will be considered.
  • Bicultural proficiency required: knowledge of Latinx culturally based world view, adaptive reasoning, and problem-solving practices of Latinx individuals, families, and community living in urban neighborhoods impacted by crime, poverty, and racial inequity.
  • Written and Verbal Spanish proficiency and able to translate general communications and review externally translated materials for accuracy.
  • High level of accountability.
  • Professional writing skills, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication through one on one meetings, phone, e-mail, and group forums with Latino Network community partners, staff and program participants.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting key organizational deadlines, motivate staff through effective supervision, and serve as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the functions of the position as described in the job responsibilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, conceptualize, collaborate, plan and manage multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to provide critical thinking and demonstrate effective judgment in decision-making.
  • Professionally responsive, dependable and maintains excellent follow through.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading groups with diverse education and professional experience and effectively facilitating respectful knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite & other graphic design tools, Network for Good, Microsoft Office Suite, and website CRM systems.
  • Some evening and weekend availability may be required as needed.

The employee may be required to perform minimal heavy lifting and walking during peak events.


Latino Network is a highly engaged work environment with satellite operations and positions performing work both onsite and remotely. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
