Job Title: Assistant Director of Arts & Culture
Reports to: VP, Specialty Programs and Program Evaluation
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Job Location: New York, NY
The Director of Arts and Culture will oversee all arts and cultural programming including, but not limited to, group & individual art classes, trips, holiday events, and recreational activities.
Along with Lantern stakeholders conceive a robust Arts and Culture program that engages Lantern tenants and staff. The Asst. Director will plan an annual calendar of events for each Lantern building.
Hire, train and monitor work of Consultant Instructors and Interns
The Assistant Director will monitor department budget and partner with Finance to ensure all financial documentation is completed. They will participate in fundraising opportunities. They will ensure supplies and space are available for classes and activities.
Collect and use data to inform program accomplishments and improvements.
- Perform other job-related functions as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred
- 3+ years designing and implementing arts and culture-focused programs
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team
- 1 year of experience working with vulnerable populations persons living with AIDS /HIV, formerly homeless and chronically homeless persons, and families, young adults aged out of foster care, persons with mental illness, or persons in recovery from addiction.
Work Environment: This job operates in an office setting with frequent travels to our supportive housing & shelter sites and works with a population who experiences mental illness, addiction, disability, HIV, and other chronic illnesses.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, climb stairs and/ or kneel. Occasionally the employee will have to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
