JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Patient Engagement Specialist Supervisor

Department: Clinical

Reports To: Clinical Director

FLSA Status: Exempt

Employee Level: 4A

SUMMARY

The Patient Engagement Specialist Supervisor monitors & provides accountability to the chemical dependency technicians and the patients in treatment embarking on their road to recovery. This individual is the main staff point of contact for all chemical dependency technicians and patients, carrying out activities ranging from light fitness classes to daily lectures on topics pertinent to recovery; monitors patients regularly, resolving conflicts and responding to critical situations and interacts regularly with other clinical staff to aid in the recovery process and daily cleaning of building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Embodiment of values and mission statement

· Supervision for all chemical dependency technicians

· Host and schedules interviews for chemical dependency technicians

· Provides training for all new chemical dependency technicians

· Provides daily work schedules for all chemical dependency technicians

· Monitor productivity of chemical dependency technicians

· Ensures all chemical dependency technicians are covered

· Tracks Patient Retention process and provides feedback and guidance

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians properly document

· Host monthly staff meetings for all chemical dependency technicians

· Enforce and inform policies and procedures

· Schedule transportation for patients

· Provides time management supervision for all chemical dependency technicians

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are monitoring meals in dining room, including enforcement of portion control and putting aside plates for those not feeling well enough to physically attend meals

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are leading patients in light daily fitness classes

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are leading enrichment activities including guided meditation, community building and free time

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are attending & monitoring enrichment activities with outside vendors

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are facilitating any non-therapy group as assigned by daily program schedule

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are monitoring patient movement and maintain presence in all patient areas

· Leads community meetings to discuss various aspects of treatment & to resolve potential conflicts between patients

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are specializes in one on one patient engagement and retention tactics

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are attending & supervising trips to off-campus 12-step recovery meetings as assigned by meeting schedule

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are monitoring patients at all times, diffuses conflicts, ensures patient compliance with treatment protocol, and involves other clinical staff as necessary

· Ensures chemical dependency technicians are performing daily facility cleaning duties as directed by daily cleaning checklists

· Performs all other tasks as assigned by supervisor

· Works as a highly dependable, independent member of the treatment team

  • Must be a committed team player willing to learn new skill sets.

QUALIFICATIONS

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has supervisory responsibilities for all chemical dependency technicians

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma, or 2 years’ experience in related field
  • 2-year prior experience working with Substance Abuse populations strongly preferred
  • Crisis Intervention Training strongly preferred
  • 2-year prior experience working with Substance Abuse populations strongly preferred
  • Crisis Intervention Training strongly preferred
  • Personal interest or experience in fitness preferred
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
  • Clean driving record for at least 3 years
  • Must be committed to drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use
  • Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred

Communication Skills:

  • Candidate must be able to explain personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues
  • Able to be outgoing and engaging with challenging patient population
  • Must be comfortable speaking to large groups of people
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Competency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be on their feet most of the day. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and bend and twist neck. The employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Employee must be active and able to exercise as they lead daily exercise routines.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
