Job Description JOB TITLE: Licensed Practical Nurse REPORTS TO: Psychiatric Registered Nurse/Director of Nursing. DEPARTMENT: Nursing FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt EMPLOYEE LEVEL: 4B OVERVIEW: The Licensed Practical Nurse monitors patients at all times, ensuring safety and compliance with program protocols. The individual performs critical nursing functions, including ordering laboratory tests and prescription medications as directed by Physician, monitoring patient vital signs, and dispensing patient medications as directed by the Psychiatric Registered Nurse or Director of Nursing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Place orders to toxicology laboratories, blood analysis laboratories, and pharmacy Communicate laboratory results to physician or Nurse Practitioner Receive and store all orders from pharmacy in accordance with facility policies Take and record patient vital signs according to schedule and policy Dispense medications to patients as needed, according to schedule... and in line with facility policies Respond to medical emergencies and call physician as needed for orders Supervise patient monitoring station or delegate to other staff as necessary Monitor on-site narcotics to prevent theft or abuse In absence of managers, act as supervisor on duty and ensure other staff carry out all duties and responsibilities of their positions Participate in monthly Infection Control Committee meetings as needed Perform all other tasks assigned by supervisor SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. COMPETENCIES - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Intellectual Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Interpersonal Ability to write reports and correspondence.

Ability to communicate effectively with patients to provide effective and efficient care Ability to communicate effectively with staff to troubleshoot problems that arise in the facility Leadership Take ownership of nursing needs for patients assigned Organization Prioritize and complete tasks assigned during shift Effectively manage and complete unscheduled tasks Self-Management Ability to maintain energy level to work with patients in behavioral health and complete necessary tasks Ability to understand staffing calendar and show up to work on time and prepared Language, Math and Reasoning Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING: Educational Certificate in accredited Practical Nursing program Active Practical Nursing License Minimum 2 years prior experience in psychiatric nursing Chemical Dependency Treatment experience preferred Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred Certified in First Aid Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred Must be committed to drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Active Practical Nursing License Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred Certified
