JobSummary:

TheRegistered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care,utilizing

the nursingprocess for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation while

meetingcompetentlyall safe expectations of a nurse.



Qualifications:
Trainingand Experience:


Mandatory:

Current RN License

Current BLS Provider

Current ACLS


Preferred:

Minimum of one (1) year experience as aPeri-operative Staff RN in an acute care hospital.


Unit Specific Technical Skills:

Demonstrates understanding and utilization ofprinciples of asepsis, provides a surgically clean environment for patient careand ensures the sterility of supplies and instruments during operativeprocedures.


Assumes responsibility for intra-operativepatient safety related to positioning and equipment/supply use.


Performs the peri-operative nursing role toinclude pre-operative assessment of the patient, nursing care plan formulation,operative care plan implementation and post-operative evaluation of thepatient s response/outcome and of the effectiveness and appropriateness of thenursing care provided.


Assists anesthesiologists with theintubation/extubation of patients, the monitoring of fluid/volume balance,administration of blood and blood products, and the thermoregulation of thepatient.


Monitors patient level of consciousness, EKG,and BP during local anesthetic procedures.


Assures the proper supplies, equipment andinstrumentation are available for surgical procedures.
