Reports to: Regional Manager Department: Events and Venue Rentals Humble Location: Balmoral Lagoon 15808 Crystal Terrace Drive, Humble, TX Texas City Location: Lago Mar Lagoon 3240 Lago Mar Blvd. Texas City, TX Houston (49/Exit 17 in Texas City) Experience: Hospitality, Media and Communications, Restaurant, Wedding, Catering or Entertainment: 5 years Education: Bachelor’s, Equivalent Experience may be considered Working Days: Weekends, Holidays, Nights, Inclement Weather Required Benefits and Additional Compensation: Paid time off, Bonuses, Insurance Stipend This position is a job for which Wedding and Event Sales experienced candidates only are encouraged to apply _______________________________________________________________________________ JOB SUMMARY: The Sales and Marketing Manager is to promote venue rental opportunities, tour prospects, building relationships that will ultimately lead to contracting venue rental space for a client seeking to host their special event on a Crystal-Lagoon Technology-based Amenity facilities. The Sales and Marketing Manager will coordinate and sell venue rental space for multiple Lagoon facilities in Houston, Texas. Local travel to multiple Lagoons around Houston, TX may be required. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience with a proven track record of offering exceptional sales service in the area of event planning and coordination. Experience in the catering, planning, or wedding sales industry is required. Concise, accurate communication is mandatory and heavy attention to detail is required. Exceptional demonstration of teamwork is also required to make sure every client is served to their full satisfaction from the initial point of contact to the final ‘Thank You’ / Suggestion email following each event. The Sales and Marketing Manager works in coordination with the Creative Director to ensure all promotional material is communicated through various mediums, including social media, and all approved communicative channels in a timely manner and according to CONTRACTUAL CLIENT OBLIGATIONS to achieve weekly and monthly Showcase and Community Event target goals. The Sales and Marketing Manager contracts vendors, working closely with the Event Operations Manager. The Sales and Marketing Manager further contracts additional talent, such as artists, musicians, entertainers, caterers, bartenders, working closely with the Event Operations Manager to ensure all requirements including facility needs and day of coordination are met to ensure each event goes according to plan. ______________________________________________________________________________ The Primary Duties of the Sales and Marketing Manager are as follows: • Proactively solicit new business opportunities by conducting effective sales calls • Presentations to potential clients • Handle special event inquiry calls • Negotiate space • Assist with clients catering needs through local caterer • Create event proposals • Conduct site inspections • Handle initial phone call and electronic inquiries in a timely manner (24 hrs.) • Develop a complete, comprehensive targeted list of companies/organizations within assigned categories • Build, maintain, and target client database (from internal/external sources): o Convention o Business o Tour operators o Meeting planners o Party planners o Corporate o Social o Concierges o Non-profit o Fundraisers o DMC’s • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Convention and Visitors Bureau, Professional Organizations, local Chamber of Commerce, Hotels, and various entertainment vendors • Ensuring optimal perception of venue within the community as well as within professional organizations _______________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Required to maintain Sales Reports – reporting progress weekly to Regional Manager via email • Monthly reports (SEO’s, monthly calendar, contacts made, forecasting trackers, financial rectification, initiatives, and revenue budget vs actual for each type of event) are fulfilled and distributed in a timely manner for proper planning • Maintain accurate event financial records and adhere to required departmental and organizational processes/protocol, • Special Events Orders • Contract negotiations • Maintain and communicate current event information on calendars • Complete working knowledge and expertise in use of Database management, Calendly, Office 365, point of sale, Excel, and general sales and reporting • Understanding of all operational department responsibilities, capabilities, and limitations to smoothly ensure maximum guest satisfaction, event execution and operational communication • Serve as an advisory to venue staff members on logistical arrangements • Aggressively ensure that revenue is generated in accordance to individual sales quotas established by Executive Management team, and track financials through local civic and business organizations (Convention Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, Houston Business Networking) • Assist in development of sales collateral material • Assist in updating of venue sales website • Online Venue listings and assigned social media applications • Attend trade shows • Networking Events • Determine and participate in marketing the venue to trade shows, both locally and nationally • Some travel to Orlando, Tampa or other locations may be necessary Additional Functions: • Promote, Sell, and often carry out duties related the processes of administering the on-boarding clients (data entry), Selling products and services (sales), planning, organizing, and hosting events: public, private, corporate or community • Maintains accurate records of purchases, attendance • Execute, monitor, analyze, and follow tight protocols on ALL SOCIAL and email Marketing • This position requires EXCEPTIONAL capability and knowledge of social media tactics, relational and organic optimization, understanding print and relational marketing approaches • Answers phone, email and in-person inquiries accurately and sincerely (when applicable) • Inquiries must demonstrate a positive, energetic, and persuasive tone, while upholding the Lagoon Funatics standard of excellence as a representative of the Lagoon Life TMbranding • Maintain a polished, 5-Star, well-groomed appearance while on duty • Be aware and fully able to recite rates, hours of operation, and positively represent all Lagoon properties and partners organizations in appearance, language, and demeanor • Assists with event management, coordination and recreation activities as needed • Multi-task, prioritize and make at-the-moment decisions that remain in-line with the priorities and policies representative of the Lagoon Funatics ownership team • Ensure all residents and/or guests have accurate and up-to-date access needs • Be friendly and polite with a positive attitude always • Report all unsafe conditions to supervisor/manager promptly • Ensure there are enough supplies and inform manager when supplies are running low • Be aware of the rules and regulations for the facility and enforce those rules before allowing entry into the facility • Complete all assigned opening, closing, and cleaning duties • Knowledge of the established Emergency Action Plan – perform appropriate skills under this plan • Accurately clock in and clock out • Arrive to the facility early for all scheduled shifts and/or meetings, events, and appointment • Assure accurate transactions of money using the cash register and making change • Practice and follow all policies and procedures as stated in the staff manual and directed by managers/supervisors. Practice and follow all policies and procedures as stated in the staff manual and directed by managers/supervisors _______________________________________________________________________________ QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in hospitality, media and communications, restaurant, wedding, catering, or entertainment industries • Will also consider experience in graphics, video and photography or fine arts, travel, and technology- related fields • Prior experience in the amusement/theme park or high-volume tourist-based entertainment venue strongly preferred • Knowledge of amusement industry regulations as well as applicable health and safety regulations • Ability to read and interpret construction and equipment drawings, logic diagrams, and wiring diagrams • Excellent organizational skills for keeping detailed records, reports, and logs • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications • Required working knowledge of local and regional markets • Special Events Operations • Computer (Windows environment including, but not limited to, spreadsheets, databases, word processing) • Knowledge of the Lagoon Funatics Guest Services policies, practices, and procedures as indicated in the Lagoon Funatics staff, safety, and service manual • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette • Skilled in interpersonal communications, organizational concepts, and financial knowledge • Ability to delegate, follow-up, relate to staff, guests, and clients in a positive effective manner • Preferred 5 years of sales experience in the hospitality industry • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 pounds Additional Requirements: • Valid driver’s license • Acceptable pre-em
