About this position:
A motivated 'first point of contact' representative for all membership-related questions, requests and concerns. The Member Engagement New Accounts Specialist assists members and potential members with their financial needs, opens accounts, processes transactions, resolves problems and provides information. Primary responsibilities include all aspects of the account application process and outreach.
The New Accounts Specialist takes ownership of developing relationships, building trust and working with members to help them achieve their financial goals. The specialist also answers phone calls in a fast-paced environment and effectively utilizes multiple methods of communication in an efficient manner.

About this position:
A motivated 'first point of contact' representative for all membership-related questions, requests and concerns. The New Accounts Specialist takes ownership of developing relationships, building trust and working with members to help them achieve their financial goals. The specialist also answers phone calls in a fast-paced environment and effectively utilizes multiple methods of communication in an efficient manner.
What you will be doing / Essential Functions:
- 50% - Handles new account inquiries through our website and ensures accounts are opened and closed in accordance with established procedures. Performs welcome and onboarding tasks and sets the stage for the relationship.
- 10% - Answers inbound member calls with empathy and professionalism.
- 10% - Understands and aligns with member goals to help them achieve their desired outcomes; Identifies cross-sell opportunities.
- 10% - Effectively utilizes written correspondence via multiple communication channels, ensuring efficient response times.
- 5% - Ensures proper records management.
- 5% - Accurately completes tasks, transactions and account maintenance activities.
- 5% - Acts as a liaison between other Lafayette departments and the member base.
- 5% - Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.
Experience:
- A high school education or GED.
- 1-3 years+ experience of similar or related experience. Customer service experience required and sales experience beneficial.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Previous experience in a financial institution within Retail Banking
- Customer focus and adaptability to different personality types
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Problem-solving skills and comfort in a consultative sales and service environment
- Basic keyboarding/data entry skills
- Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled.
- Ability to work weekends (rotating Saturday's 8:30AM - 12:30PM)
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
Interpersonal Skills:
- Work normally involves significant personal contact with others, inside and outside the organization, for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact during communication.
- Business development and/or sales skills.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Learning, thinking, listening and concentration are required.
- Must have the ability to focus on details and follow-up on time sensitive material.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets.
- This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.
- This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.
