Journey level, Web User Interface (UI) Developer Bring your exceptional Web User Interface Development experience to Labor and Industries and make a difference in the lives of the workers and employers in Washington State. As a Web User Interface Developer working in Web & Communications Services, you will be part of the team responsible for executing the agency’s digital strategy and the management of the agency’s public-facing websites. The Web Services team creates customer focused interactive digital products that communicate with injured workers, medical providers, businesses, trade contractors and internally with employees. In this position, your work opportunities will include developing online business applications and adaptive interfaces that will provide customers with a web experience that is easy, intuitive and adds value to their interaction with the agency. Duties Some of what you’ll do:Develop user interfaces, with the responsibility to code L&I web transactional applications (both secure and anonymous), look-up tools, calculators and websites that integrate with business logic and data in IT.Review websites and web applications for adherence to L&I web design and development standards, best practices for usability, user centered design, functionality and mobile compatibility.Document development processes, procedures and specifications for interactive products.Provide instruction, mentoring and guidance to other L&I application developers and designers responsible for web user interface application development. Contribute to documentation for agency branding, Web and application design and development standards.Identify new technologies, determine appropriateness, and implement adoption and integration into L&I Web products, application development, processes and standards.Develop mockups and interactive prototypes for usability studies and integrate findings and improvements into L&I Web applications and websites.Develop user interface build and release automation.Advocate for an intuitive user experience while meeting L&I business needs and state legal requirements Work with business areas and subject matter experts to interpret requirements that inform and define product features and technical designs to fulfill the agency business need Qualifications REQUIRED:Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree AND seven years of recent software development experience working on designing, developing and testing user interfaces that are transactional, interactive, and have intuitive interactions and navigation patterns ORMaster’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related degree AND four years of recent software development experience working on designing, developing and testing user interfaces that are transactional, interactive, and have intuitive interactions and navigation patterns OR11 years of software development experience leading of recent software development experience working on designing, developing and testing user interfaces that are transactional, interactive, and have intuitive interactions and navigation patterns Note: Experience includes lead or supervisory work in any field, consulting, analyzing, designing, programming and maintaining the user interface for online applications. Having advanced knowledge and highly proficient skills in a wide range of competencies that include but are not limited to Web and Application best practices, designing and developing user interfaces, code and develop functionality for complex websites and applications (secure and anonymous) serving multiple customer/user types while meeting business requirements. In addition, you must have: Five years of recent Framework Development Experience with advanced knowledge and skills in a wide array of tools and practical theory in testing methodologies (unit, integration, etc.), Webpack, Node.js, template design, JavaScript, modularization, packaging, OOP practices and development design patterns.Three years of recent Content Management System (CMS) Implementation and Maintenance experience. Skills in standing-up a CMS in a manner, which is robust, yet maintainable through advanced knowledge in Information architecture, data management, users and role permissions. In addition to these qualifications, an understanding of template design, content type development and structured data layers is also imperative. DESIRED: Five years of recent experience in implementing user interface standards for large, complex websites and web applications serving multiple types of users and business needs across an organization.Three years of recent experience in implementing and applying technical solutions that address State OCIO Policy 188 and federal accessibility requirements in large, complex websites and applications serving multiple audience types with disabilities, either permanent or temporary including physical and mental impairments.
