Human Resources Generalist

Responsible for administrative, compliance-oriented and strategic duties. Administrative tasks -also known as core HR -- include maintaining employee records, administering benefits and providing employee self-service.

Essential Functions & Principle Accountabilities

  • Being physically present at the worksite
  • Respond to employee requests within two business hours
  • Respond to management requests within two business hours
  • Manage employee benefits programs (health, 401k, and all others)
    • Process bills within 72 hours
    • Manage and update employee requests and records within 72 hours
    • Get new participants signed up or waived before eligibility date
    • Manage vendors
    • Prepare and support audits
    • Ensure legal compliance
    • Benefits orientation and ongoing training
  • Section 125 compliance
  • Wellness program management
  • Set up, manage, and promote Benefits Fairs
  • Manage Health Fairs
  • Manage sourcing relationships
  • Managing HR SharePoint pages
  • Manage ELP Program and payroll advances
  • Fitness bank management
  • Transit Program Management
  • Educational Assistance & Scholarship Program maintenance
  • Deliver benefits orientation to new employees within ten working days
  • Upload and manage employee profile and pictures
  • Safety committee participation
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboard
  • Monthly AAP & recruitment audits
    • Weekly open jobs reports
  • Manage Housekeeping staff and vendors and other projects as assigned
  • Employment verification
  • Workers compensation compliance and management
  • Ensure proper completion of new hire forms and new hire file creation
  • E-verify & I-9 management & compliance
  • Manage CPR and AED
  • Manage & Promote employee events at all locations
    • General Meetings
    • Ad hoc events
    • Blood drives
    • Kids day etc
  • Maintain small petty cash
  • Off boarding
    • Exit Interviews
    • COBRA escalation
  • Maintain terminated employee records
  • Update job descriptions
  • PTO Management
  • Upload Performance reviews
  • Maintain the confidentiality, accuracy & integrity of employee HR files
  • Order HR supplies as needed
  • Complete required reports by deadlines
  • Act as positive role model
  • Ensure HR legal compliance
  • Employee badges & badge card system
  • Learn all functions & act as back up for People Manager
  • Update HR bulletin boards at least monthly
  • Update affirmative action databases
  • Ensure that HR Database is maintained in accurate & timely manner
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Ongoing HR process improvement
  • Support, explain and enforce company and departmental policies
  • Maintain the confidentiality, accuracy & integrity of ALL documents – but especially benefit, HIPPA, recruitment & HR files – whether electronic or paper

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in special project teams as needed
  • Take responsibility for the safety of self and others at all times
  • Take responsibility to eliminate accidents, injuries & hazards at all times
  • Observe & act in accordance with all applicable laws & regulations & company policies
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

  • Knowledge of PC - Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • General Clerk or HR experience preferred
  • 2+ years MS Office experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • Intermediate MS Outlook skills
  • Strong internet research skills
  • Good keyboarding skills
