Job Title, Location – Content Strategist II, Grand Rapids, MI

Job Summary – Do you have a natural desire to help make the complex simple and use effective communication skills to help people understand things that are hard to understand? As the Content Strategist II, you will work side-by-side with other organizational stakeholders to ensure that LaFleur’s clients get highly researched, search-optimized content that reflects their brands and targets their ideal leads. As a valued team member, you will foster and support an organized, forward-thinking, cross-functional work environment to help keep the teams aligned and reach client goals.

To be successful in this role, you will use your writing, editing, marketing, and collaboration skills to master the art of communicating complex ideas, situations, and scenarios in a simple, precise, clear, and concise manner.

Ultimately, the impact of this role will enhance the organization and help client’s reach their goals by creating content pieces that meet the needs/service of the core user base and target audience.

Salary Range – Starting salary $50,000

Position Purpose and Accountabilities – As the Content Strategist II, you will work on a small cross-functional team, specializing in a highly-regulated industry, with support from LaFleur’s Content Director. You will provide well-researched content with a focus on deliverable and client goals.

Role Duties and Responsibilities include:

-      Research and write in-depth, comprehensive copy for blog articles, emails, infographics, web pages, print materials, paid advertising, and other aspects

-      Interview and working closely with our client’s subject matter experts

-      Perform data-driven key-word research that helps direct or clients’ marketing strategies and improve their reach

-      Work closely with our clients to incorporate their feedback and refine their content marketing strategies

-      Refine our internal content marketing strategies, copy guidelines, workflows, editorial ethics, and other issues related to LaFleur’s operations and mission

-      Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop your craft and understand digital marketing best practices

-      Incorporate account managers’ and clients’ feedback and refine their marketing strategies

-      Follow all state, local, and company rules and guidelines to ensure compliance for all clients and LaFleur

-      Develop documentation as needed

-      Additional duties may be assigned.


About You - While this is not a supervisor role, you will lead direction and set an example for the team.

You will thrive as the Content Strategist II if you have a high level of organizational skills, are goal-oriented, self-motivated and can self-direct while working both independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Someone who is versatile, empathetic, and fun will find fulfillment in this role.

Additional qualifications include:

-      Required:

o   At least 21 years of age

o   Comfortable working within the cannabis industry

o   A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field

o   A minimum of 3 year of relevant industry experience

o   Fundamental knowledge of digital marketing concepts and SEO strategy

o   Experience producing fresh, innovative content that translates complex ideas into simple terms, with a focus on digital marketing

o   Ability to develop content from multiple digital platforms and campaign formats

o   Data analysis

o   Knowledge of MS Office Suite, video conference software, and time tracking

o   Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to utilize a variety of distinctive styles and tones

o   High emotional intelligence and able to anticipate client and internal team needs


-      Preferred:

o   Experience in fast-paced agency setting

o   Experience involving the legal industry, cannabis industry, or another highly regulated field

o   Knowledge and experience with a variety of digital tools, such as Scoro, SurferSEO, and SEMrush

o   Experience with cannabis marketing

o   Experience with digital marketing


-      Desired:

o   Prior experience in marketing, journalism, or other professional writing application

Physical Requirements –

-      Prolonged periods in a stationary position (seated or standing)

-      May be required to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
