Controller/Operations Manager

The primary purpose of this position is to personally manage all daily accounting activities for a 140-person company, ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner, and producing financial and other key reports for management. The ideal candidate will be a strong accounting professional, with a dynamic, collaborative, transformational leadership style who has general management experience to direct our accounting and operational activities. CPA preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:


· Manage all aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses

· Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations

· Oversee payments of all accounts, ensuring all accounts are paid on time

· Process accounts and collect payments

· Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money

· Monitor cash and funding balances

· Interact with Company clients in the setup and administration of contracts, billing processes and systems used to track projects and billable hours

· Manage the Company’s time tracking system for employee/consultant billable hours

· Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts

· Prepare and organize financial statements for record and review

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports, including monthly compliance certificates for bank and materials to support quarterly Board of Directors meetings

· Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts

· Organize information and statements for audits

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

· Minimum of a four-year degree in accounting or finance, with a minimum of eight years’ experience in the accounting field

· Demonstrated experience working within professional service organizations where revenue is generated by billing for hourly services

· Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software (particularly Quickbooks) and Microsoft Excel

· Extensive knowledge of GAAP

· Accruals expertise

· Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices

· Experience in overseeing and administering payroll and related Human Resources operations and administrative processes

· Experience with payroll platform Paychex Flex

· Experience overseeing support staff and administrative staff

· Excellent people skills
