The Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for design and/or checking of Substation and T&D lines Civil/Structural projects. Engineer will be expected to perform their project activities to an acceptable level of quality and according to project schedules and budgets.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with all disciplines contributing to electrical substation and T&D design.
- Create, and modify Civil Drawings for medium/high voltage (34.5-230 kV) Power delivery projects (T&D and Substations).
- Design and/or checking of civil construction plans, site plans, grading, cut and fill, access road, storm drainage, soil erosion, and sediment control details.
- Design and/or checking of foundation design and analysis using provided geotechnical information for various foundation types utilized in substations and T&D Lines, oil containment systems, earth retaining walls, steel substation structures, aluminum substation structures, shop drawings, equipment enclosures, and substation bus analysis calculations.
- Development of civil construction specifications, material specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, bill of materials, and task durations.
- Development of civil/structural design submittals
- Provide engineering support during construction
- Up to 25% travel required.
- Complete other duties as assigned, including a willingness to temporarily fill in for other roles/duties as required.
- Assist, or take the lead, in the development of procedures
Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum5yearsofrelevantcivil engineering experiencerequired.
- Good working Knowledge of excel, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, SAP 2000, STAAD Pro, LPile, RISA 3D are beneficial.
- Ability to drive internal and external engineering meetings and interface with the client regularly
- Excellentleadership,interpersonal,verbal and written communication skills.
- Good working knowledge ofall Microsoft Officeprogramsa plus.
- Experience in electric utility is a plus.
- Geotechnical and environmental background is a plus.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure and ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required
- PE is desired but not a requirement.
