Job Description
Loop1, is a global IT Operations Management (ITOM) company specializing in SolarWinds® monitoring and observability, plus Runecast, Portnox, NetFoundry, KnowBe4, and netTerrain. We are actively searching for a Technical Project Manager for our North America Office.


About The Role

Loop1 Technical Project Manager reports to the global director of Service Delivery, you will be part of a 5-person team of project and service delivery managers and will fully manage 20 to 25 client-facing professional services engagements at a time, each ranging in duration from 2 to 52 weeks. The Project Manager is expected to establish, maintain, and proactively grow client relationships into repeat business and expanded service offerings.

The preferred location for this position is the Austin, Texas metropolitan area but remote within the US Central or Eastern time zone is acceptable.

Description:

  • Strong strategic relationship management skills, especially listening, comprehension, diplomacy and influencing, high emotional intelligence, understanding subtle verbal indicators, and ability to know your audience, to “read the room” and adjust communication mode accordingly (i.e., knowing when a client wants a direct, no-nonsense approach vs. those requiring more diplomacy)
  • Ability to influence actions of stakeholders and to hold them accountable for tasks and timelines.
  • Ability to project confidence without arrogance. Not merely possess internal confidence, but visible confidence, in a way that fosters client confidence and trust in your leadership and ownership of the engagement.
  • Demonstrable exceptional skills in organization, requirement gathering, planning, and communications (including presentation skills, diplomacy, and influencing)
  • Experience with data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and presentation
  • A strong understanding of project management methodologies, and how/when to deploy each in a pragmatic way that adds value, balancing control and agility. Ideally, a certified practitioner in one or more of the recognized methodologies (PMP, Prince2, Agile/Scrum, etc.)
  • Good understanding and practice of systematic problem-solving methods and intuition for when to escalate
  • Understanding of the IT Service Management industry, its challenges, and its typical technical, process, and change governance landscape. Ideally, you have some familiarity with the implementation of software products and platforms.
  • Experience managing technical projects involving the deployment and configuration of software
  • Working knowledge of commercial constructs, contract, and SOW creation, and professional services sales cycles.
  • Familiarity working within a product/ technology company or, if working in pure professional services, familiarity with short- and long-term engagements deploying partner solutions to end clients

Favorable points for:

  • Knowledge of SolarWinds products, understanding of the Orion modules and their functions at a high level, equivalent to the knowledge level required for the SSE (SolarWinds® Sales Expert) certifications.
  • Understanding of computer network deployment requirements
  • Functional understanding of the NetSuite CRM
  • Functional understanding of ServiceNow SPM (ITBM), CSM, and/or ITSM modules

Expectations for this role:

  • Concurrently manage 20-25 Professional Services (PS) or Managed Services (MS, ITOM) projects across numerous clients
  • Build and maintain positive partnerships with each client, fostering client trust and confidence in Loop1 and our delivery teams and processes
  • Demonstrate assertive ownership of projects, proactively guiding clients through the steps of the project lifecycle, including well-defined requirements, resourcing and planning, stakeholder management and coordination, driving milestones, project reporting, securing client signoff and project closure
  • Proactively manage expectations of clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Demonstrate the differentiation of our service by working with stakeholders unfamiliar with our products and processes to ensure they understand the value proposition.
  • Manage adjustments, changes, and roadblocks to in-flight projects via positive and proactive communication and coordination across stakeholder teams
  • Prepare and present key project collateral, including project plans, RAID logs, progress updates, status reports and periodic service reviews
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and documentation.
  • Mentor and train junior project management resources

Typical day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Meet with sales/presales to understand the scopes and requirements of incoming projects
  • Create full project plans with resourcing, priorities, tasks, ownership, stakeholders, timelines (Gantt views), and other details
  • Create and maintain daily or weekly RAID logs (Risk, Action, Issues, Dependencies)
  • Check-in with the project stakeholders and delivery resources for periodic updates and progress reports
  • Maintain resource scheduling calendars
  • Moderate post-project meetings and gather feedback for continual process improvement
