Senior Mechanical Inspector - Quality

Under general supervision is responsible for inspection activities, Non-Conforming Material Process, Calibration, and First Article process. Primary programmer and operator of Coordinate Measuring Machine. Supervise other inspection team members to ensure timely throughput of all inspection tasks i.e. Incoming, In-Process, First Article, and Projects

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Administers the Material Review Board activities including data collection and analysis leading to corrective action and root cause closure of defects/scrap identified under the guidance of the Quality Supervisor / Quality Manager.

• Management of test and measurement equipment calibration system. Including managing and facilitating outsourcing of calibration as well as performing calibration duties.

• Develops and modifies First Article and Inspection Test Plans.

• Ensures that all products, materials, and related services produced, used, or contracted comply with established regulations and guidelines.

• Participates in the development of new practices and procedures to promote data collection and in-process inspection in the manufacturing work centers under the guidance of the Quality Manager (GR&R and other Measurement system analysis activities).

• Applies meaningful analysis to collected data, develops and implements associated action plans with assistance.

• Participates with the Internal Auditing and assessment of compliance with Quality System, ISO and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements.

• Participates in special projects (including process improvements) and/or testing with various departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

· High School or G.E.D. equivalent. Some college preferred

· Minimum of five (5) years hands-on direct experience as a Mechanical Inspector in an ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and or AS9100 QMS environment. Experience with CMM operation, and programing (Coordinate Measuring Machine – Zeiss Contura preferred, but not required). (add from Bob’s 10/24/19 email)

· Hands-on experience with measuring tools, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, drop gauges and proven experience with common measurement techniques, and applications, testing and inspection equipment.

· Previous responsibility with MRB programs desired; ASQ certifications for Calibration Technician, Mechanical Inspector a plus.

· Hands-on experience with use of quality tools such as sampling plans, control charts, SPC and quality improvement techniques such as Cause/Effect diagrams, Pareto charts, Histograms

· Must have experience in Mechanical Inspection, CMM Operation, and programming (Zeiss Contura preferred).

· Previous responsibility in Calibration and MRB programs desired.

· ASQ certifications for Calibration Technician and Mechanical Inspector a plus.

· Must be a strong advocate for the customer and for product quality in the face of possible adversity.

· Familiar with Quality Assurance Management requirements per industry standards, such as ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 13485 (Medical Device) and/or AS9100c (Aerospace) a plus.

· RoHS and REACH experience a plus.

· Previous training as an Internal Auditor a plus.

· Hands-on experience with use of quality tools such as sampling plans, control charts, SPC and quality improvement techniques such as Cause/Effect diagrams, Pareto charts, Histograms.

· Hands-on experience with measuring tools, including but not limited to calipers, micrometers, drop gauges and proven experience with common measurement techniques, and applications, testing and inspection equipment.

· Ability to read detailed engineering drawings and schematics.

· Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Good ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Products.
