Job Description

Title: Teacher Assistant Status: Non-Exempt

Supervisor: Classroom Techer/Instructor

Essential Duties:

 

1. Assist students with any personal needs in classroom

2. Create a safe and effective learning environment that contributes to the fulfillment of needs, stimulation of learning and of self-control

3. Notify the lead teacher/instructor of an accident, emergency, or unusual incident involving the student/adult

4. Greet and supervise students at arrival and dismissal

5. Maintain confidentiality of information except where information is released under specific conditions of written consent

6. Work with lead teacher/instructor to assist in communication with students

7. Provide constant communication with lead teacher/instructor regarding students

8. Drive school vans for class field trips

9. Assist teachers with execution of lesson plans

10. Assist art, music and physical education teachers during special instructions time

11. Other Duties as assigned

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 

1. Follow all school policies

2. Use professional language and actions with adult in program at all times

3. Complete CPR and first aid training

 

Required Qualifications:

 

1. High School Diploma

 

Additional Qualifications:

 

1. Demonstration of excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

2. Willingness to work a flexible schedule

3. Maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle according to FDOT standards

4. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others

5. CPR Certified
