Adult Education Instructor - Microsoft Office Computers

Lapeer County ISD is seeking a Microsoft Office Computer Instructor to join our Education and Technology Center in Attica, MI!

Additional Information:

  • Hours are Wednesdays, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m..

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and plan all course-related curriculum and activities
  • Provide quality instruction and necessary support to students enrolled in course in order to ensure their success in course
  • Assess and address the individual academic needs each student
  • Use a variety of research-based instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students enrolled in course
  • Evaluate students’ academic growth and maintain records related to their progress including attendance records, learning plans/goals, and assessments
  • Create and maintain a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning
  • Manage and monitor student behavior in the classroom and school building
  • Integrate work, family, and community activities into instruction
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Education and Certifications
    • Valid secondary teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement for assignment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work History
    • Experience in a comparable capacity in a school setting or educational environment
    • Experience working with adult and at-risk students
  • Knowledge
    • Specialized educational programs (e.g., Career and Technical Education (CTE), Special Education, Adult and/or Community Education)
    • Student information management systems (e.g., Synergy, PowerSchool, Skyward, etc.)
  • Proficient in use of:
    • Standard office equipment
    • Microsoft Office products
    • Adobe products
    • Google applications
  • Skills:
    • Written and verbal communication skills
    • Organizational skills
    • Interpersonal skills
  • Abilities:
    • Work with a team of professionals to design, implement, and monitor programs/plans for students with moderate to severe disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    • Prioritize and multi-task
    • Take initiative
    • Maintain student confidentiality at all times
    • Adhere to timelines and meet deadlines
    • Work independently, as well as part of a team
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports
    • Remain composed in stressful and difficult situations
    • Establish and maintain a good rapport and positive relationships with all individuals encountered during the performance of work duties and responsibilities

    • Conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and civil manner at all times
    • Positively represent the ISD and its local districts
