Job Description


  • Should be well organized with good attention to detail.   
  • Must be dependable; be able to work independently; have good color perception; be able to handle working with jigs, fixtures and the slitting machine; understand and respect the delicacy of the products working with; follow instructions exactly; be motivated towards products and process improvement; and be able to work closely with other staff members since much of process requires two person operations.
  • Must be able to transport up to 40 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Following the work schedule and productivity expectations developed by the Test Strip Production Coordinator:
    •    Takes dried test paper sheets, applies adhesive backing, and slits these into long strips using the slitter machine. *
    •    Takes the long strips and applies them to plastic cards and slits these into finished test strips. (This includes making sure that correct batch is being used.) *
    •    Takes finished test strips and packages them into individual bottles, labels these bottles and packs bottles into their final shipping carton (multi-pack type). *
  2. Works at one of the following five stations in the work cell:
    •    Places blisters into the fixture on the blister packaging equipment turntable. *
    •    Places bottles of test strips into the blister so that the label can be read through the blister in the finished package. *
    •    Places cards on the fixture being careful to align the cards so that the package is squared off when completed and that the top of the card is properly oriented. *
    •    Packs the finished blister carded test strips into the cases, checking for proper sealing of the blisters. *


  1. Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to:
     •    Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event. *
     •    5-S program in department or other areas assigned. *
     •    DMAICs.  Continuously looks for ways to improve both the department’s and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations, and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly. *
  2. Notifies Supervisors/Managers of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc., and cooperates in resolving such issues as well.  For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails. *
  3. Provides Supervisors/Managers with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit, and obtains additional training as necessary. *
  4. Assists in other department activities as needed. * 
  5. Floats to and works in other Production areas as needed. *
  6. Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.). *
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.   (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.) *

Environmental Factors and Mental/Physical Capabilities:

  • Works indoors in temperature and humidity-controlled environment.  
  • Handles various chemicals.  
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, transporting up to 40 pounds, good dexterity and good color perception.  
  • Must be able to read and understand directions.  
  • Requires using jigs, fixtures and slitting machine.  

Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
8 hrs. a day, with overtime as needed.
