Our Maintenance Mechanics will work 12-hour shifts rotating workdays and primarily operate equipment and package products. While our Newark site is slated to be operational in September, we are hiring employees now and will provide daily mileage reimbursement of $48.75 for each day they are onsite training in Chestertown, MD. Main Function:
  • Responsible for maintaining plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of PLC's and possess troubleshooting and repair experience with electrical systems.


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Training/experience with PLC-based manufacturing automation (Alan-Bradley PLC's, Yamaha robotics, Branson welders & Keyence camera systems preferred).
  • Requires good math skills and ability to read and understand instructions and manuals.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of PLC controlled machinery.
  • Requires experience and skills in areas relating to electrical machine maintenance and modification.
  • Must be advanced in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general computer applications.
  • Requires experience and skills in areas relating to building construction and modification.
  • Must have electrical, plumbing & HVAC exp.
  • EPA certification preferred, not required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, be able to transport 50 pounds, and operate shop equipment, power tools and use hand tools.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Abides by Company safety & personnel policies, SOPs, etc. *

  • Diagnose and repair all types of manufacturing equipment using specialized experience in electrical and PLC controlled equipment. *
  • Upgrades equipment from outdated relay logic to PLC controls by building new panels from wiring diagrams and schematics. *
  • Maintains a total productive maintenance program which follows manufacturer's instructions and established procedures. *
    1. This includes: all manufacturing equipment, HVAC, vacuum systems, dust collections systems, dehumidifier units, air compressors, furnace, lighting, etc. *
  • Assists with handling equipment breakdowns and completes maintenance work requests as needed and assigned by Maintenance Supervisor. *
  • Assists in modifications as described in approved project proposals. *
  • Makes local pick-ups of items required for projects or for maintenance projects. *
  • Utilizes time between various stages of major projects to accomplish smaller projects. *


Miscellaneous:
  • Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to: *
  1. Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.
  2. 5-S program in the various departments assigned.
  1. DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both the departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company's operations, and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.
  • Notifies Manager of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc. and cooperates in resolving such issues as well. For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails. *
  • Provides Manager with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtains additional training as necessary.
  • Complies with all Company policies (i.e., personnel, safety, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Environmental Factors & Physical Demands:
  • Primarily works indoors in temperature-controlled environment.
  • However, may occasionally be subject to outside environment when working on HVAC, compressors, and other equipment outside of building, or when assisting with snow removal, and may occasionally work in confined areas or high places.
  • Primarily requires walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, driving, and transporting up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires operating various shop equipment, power tools and hand tools.
  • Requires good math skills and ability to read and understand operating instructions and manuals.
