Supplier Strategy 
  • Provide input to identify preferred suppliers
  • Review, analyze, and determine potential risks in supply base to prioritize creation of mitigation plans
  • Provide input on make/buy decisions by providing internal and external capability analysis
  • Review and provide input into terms and conditions that govern supplier relationships to ensure quality considerations are addressed
  • Lead supply base to expected levels of performance
Supplier Selection 
  • Conduct supplier assessments, analyze and report results
  • Participate in supplier selection with team
  • Participate in internal design reviews
  • Participate in technical design reviews with suppliers
Risk Management 
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize risks to supplier quality
  • Assist suppliers with implementation of Aerospace APQP.
  • Assisting suppliers with the performance of PFMEA's
  • Assist suppliers with developing control plans and make changes as needed to meet objectives
Supplier Performance Monitoring and Assessment       
  • Analyze supplier performance data including cost of quality where possible
  • Develop periodic reports on supplier performance (scorecards)
  • Establish and maintain periodic reviews with suppliers on their performance
Supplier Maintenance and Improvement 
  • Sustain a development or risk mitigation plan appropriate to the risk of the product/service
  • Qualify supplier processes (process validation, first article, measurement system analysis, quality plan, process monitoring)
  • Create and manage supplier development or improvement plans for underperforming suppliers
  • Conduct appropriate supplier training (for example; quality tools, Kaizen events)
Relationship Management 
  • Provide orientation to suppliers, providing overview of overall requirements, expectations, and criticality of product, service, and delivery requirements
  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities of internal stakeholders and suppliers 
  • Participate in supplier excellence recognition and award initiatives

 



These are the critical skills and areas of knowledge required performing this position at a solid performance level. 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in Airborne, Automotive or Defense industry manufacturing required, 10 years preferred.
  • Degree in an engineering discipline required, mechanical or electrical preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience inspecting product required, 4 years experience dispositioning nonconforming material (MRB) preferred.
  • History of working on new product development required, involvement in Make/buy decisions preferred.
  • Background working with APQP required, proficiency in implementation preferred.
  • Familiarity with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 required, IPC certification preferred.
  • Understanding of 6-Sigma Lean Manufacturing required, green belt preferred.
  • Proficiency in conducting audits required, certifications to ISO9001 or AS9100 preferred.
  • Proficiency in effectively communicating with all levels of personnel, both in writing and verbally required, proficiency in Minitab and Excel preferred.
Physical Requirements of the job
  • Estimated travel is 35%, 90% of which is within the continental US and Canada.
