Job Title: Specialist, Mechanical Engineer Job ID: SAS20232407-103834 Job Code: MEP3 Job Location: Ashburn, VA Job Description: The Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division is part of L3Harris' Agile Development Group, and specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience. This position is for a Specialist, Mechanical Engineer within the Unmanned Systems business area of AS&T. In this role, you will be part of a team designing and producing the next generation of unmanned aircraft.

Working closely with engineers from multiple disciplines, you will help turn requirements into real-world design solutions to create products that exceed our customers' expectations. This position is heavily focused on mechanical design excellence, which requires a good background in CAD-based tools and practices. Experience in basic structural and thermal analysis is also required for this position.

Essential Functions: Provide creative and innovative design solutions that meet product requirements for our unmanned air vehicle product lines Work closely with Aero and Electrical Engineers to collaborate on effective solutions to design challenges, such as defining outer mold line geometry based on a multitude of competing design constraints Support conceptual and detail design processes by using your background in CAD design (preferably PTC Creo). This position requires significant CAD design and drafting. Provide support to structural and thermal analysis tasks that are based on making the most efficient aircraft possible Provide experienced-based insight to Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads, and potentially take on a Mechanical Engineering lead role on a product team Present data in design review settings (e.g.

PDR, CDR), both internal and external Provide strong contributions to the overall product design dialogue from inception to production. Provide hands-on support during integration activities. Strong mechanical skills are required, to include experience with fabrication and assembly of mechanical systems.

Provide material review board contributions by determining disposition for non-conformances This role requires your presence on-site. Hybrid and remote options are not available for this position. Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required Physical Requirements: ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Up to 5% travel may be required Other duties as required Qualifications: U.S. citizen Active DoD clearance with current 5-year update Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Strong CAD design and drafting skills (2500+ hours expected). PTC Creo strongly preferred, but not required.

Strong product design background - experienced in the design of complex systems Experience with GD&T Experience with FEA and other analysis methods/tools. Experience using Microsoft Office products Preferred Additional Skills: Passion for design engineering. The design process is not just a job - it is a way of life for you.

This should be evident on your resume and in your interview! Aircraft design experience Electronics design and/or packaging experience PTC Creo CAD skills. Solidworks also a plus.

PLM skills - PTC Windchill preferred. Oracle Agile also a plus. Strong communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation) ANSYS mechanical skills Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
