Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital and Brand Marketing this new role (which is this first of its kind at Kyra) will form an integral part of the wider Integrated & Brand Marketing team, providing hands-on tactical and strategic support in delivering the external communications objectives.As this our first PR hire this role will initially be standalone. There will be potential for you to expand your team as the business grows.

In collaboration with our founders, you'll be able to craft and share Kyra's unique story, differentiating us in the marketplace by fostering relationships with the media, influencers, thought leaders, customers & investors. We are a nimble team so you will have the opportunity & freedom to develop the entire PR and comms strategy, test new ideas, see their impact and iterate to get the best results.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a clear PR & communications strategy & plan to build & advance our brand story through effectively delivered content/marketing initiatives
  • Lead strategic communication for the company brand refresh
  • Secure coverage with our target publications and build out a drumbeat of relevant & timely news, taking advantage of newsjacking opportunities
  • Write press releases, blog posts, partnership announcements and contribute to all our externally facing communication
  • Manage all day-to-day PR activities including preparing press releases for product/feature launches, company announcements, responses to inbound queries, sponsorship collaborations and business continuity planning, etc
  • Effectively prioritize the most important messages by leveraging agency, consumer & customer insights to drive awareness and, ultimately engagement
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of trends and other editorial/content opportunities for Kyra, and how to create the narrative
  • Partner with team members across Integrated & Brand Marketing,Creative, Sales, and Product to ensure messaging and positioning are consistent
  • Contribute to and support plans to build Kyra's brand organically, including through social media, thought leadership & partner relationships
  • Prioritize and secure speaking opportunities for the founders, senior leadership team and company
  • Build media toolkit and develop and meticulously maintain the data set that we share with the press, investors, and partners
  • Act as company spokesperson as needed
  • Keep internal stakeholders up to date on industry trends and emerging best practices, weaving that knowledge into our company and your work.

What we are looking for:

This role would suit somebody with:

  • 8+ years of PR and consumer communications experience; ideally from a combination of agency-side / publication and in-house roles at startups or scale-ups
  • Experience in writing a variety of externally facing communications - blog posts, social media posts, press releases etc.
  • A great roster of global media contacts
  • Strong media relations experience across multiple types of publications (e.g. business publications, technology, social media etc.)
  • Exceptional writing and story-telling skills: written, verbal & visual
  • The ability to flex between setting strategy and executing, with affinity for both
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking in various formats
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, the ability to be true team player - who know what it means to to collaborate with others to get the best outcomes
  • A love for social media, in particular Tiktok, and youth culture & entertainment is a plus
  • Energy, curiosity and a growth mindset.
