About the Role

KushCo Holdings is looking for a Sr. Human Resources Generalist who can contribute to making our company a premier employment destination for top talent in the cannabis industry. The Sr. Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for evaluating employee programs, managing employee relations policies and making sure that all employee-related policies in each department align with our corporate goals and established regulations. The successful candidate will be charged with reducing employee turnover and attracting top talent to fill open positions. This role is responsible for supporting the overall administration, coordination, compliance and project management within the HR department. This individual will champion continuous improvement efforts and new systems implementation to enable scaling for a business experiencing explosive growth. The Sr. Human Resources Generalist will work out of the headquarters in Cypress, CA where they will lead the HR team to support a dynamic and energetic culture!

What you will do (Essential Functions)

    • Manages employee process and procedures for, benefits, performance management and terminations
    • Recommends and administrates new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continuous improvements in efficiency of department and services performed for all company personnel
    • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
    • Be point person for project management within HR department for implementations or new procedure rollouts
    • Supports communication efforts with clear and grammatically correct written work
    • Promote and support Company culture by being a champion of a positive work environment and leading by example
    • Works with Talent team on new-employee orientations
    • Supports Sr. HR Manager with employee relations management
    • Helps management prepare written warnings and assists with performance management plans
    • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
    • Administrate employee benefit programs, annual open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness
    • Oversees payroll process functions including bi-weekly processing, tax remittance, ACA and W2 annual filings while partnering with Finance department for oversight
    • HRIS system management (Paylocity); responsible for data integrity
    • Reviews and approves job descriptions ensuring FLSA classifications are compliant
    • Maintains handbook on policies and procedures for US and international locations
    • Manages EEO-1 submission annually; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations
    • Establishes and maintains department records and reports
    • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars
    • Assists with special projects, as needed

Who you are (Qualifications)

    • 3-5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist or similar supervisory experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology or related field
    • Preferred HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP)
    • Multi-state payroll processing experience
    • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in employment law and compliance
    • International HR/Payroll experience is a plus
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees throughout the organization
    • Federal and State compliance and HR Best practices
    • Reporting requirements (EEO, ACA, OSHA)
    • Strong analytical skills and assertive decision-maker
    • Always maintain composure and discretion, even in difficult or emotional situations
    • Positive attitude, attention to detail and customer-oriented with good multitasking and organizational ability

Physical Standards

    • This position requires frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and operating a computer workstation
    • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 20 pounds
