Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement

About the Role

This individual will be responsible for operations projects. This position outlines the project opportunity, goals, scope of effort and deliverables, as well as develops and manages key project timelines to ensure timely completion and measurable results to improve business performance, quality, and compliance. They will research, analyze, map out all processes/workflows, remove waste, and recommend solutions. The CI Manager will focus to improve processes within the operation by utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools.

What you will do (Essential Functions)

    • Project and time management: Plan tasks and deliverables accurately, prioritize tasks and adapt as needed based upon changing priorities. Responsive to requests, accountable for actions
    • Problem-solving: Prevent and solve issues, understand and mitigate problems, recognize cause and effect relationships between functions
    • Cross-functional collaboration and communication to quickly understand and resolve issues
    • Develop Staff (increasing competence and engagement)
    • Customer focus: Understand and monitor the needs of internal and external customers
    • Identify and facilitate process improvement projects, training/ workshops to drive through various lean methods
    • Knowledge with DMAIC improvement cycle to improve and stabilize a process
    • Proficiency to detect mistakes and Poke-Yoke a process to avoid future occurrences
    • Identify cause and effect by the use of Fishbone diagram and provide corrective actions through various tools (i.e. 5 Why’s)
    • Experience with initiating Kaizen Events with a proven track record to drive improvements
    • Review and measurement of Takt-time within the operation to meet customer demand
    • Conduct root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot, operations, assembly issues, material flow, project plans, production capacity, facility design and create process documentation
    • Carrying out advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping, develop budgets and cost analysis to determine project feasibility
    • Initiate value stream mapping to define “Current State” and the transition to “Future State”
    • Develop and conduct compliance audits, program evaluations and reviews to drive results with the fortitude to ensure change is permanent and sustainable to exceed customer expectations
    • Partner with key business stakeholders, and multi-departments to build a continuous improvement environment to support an ongoing program of change
    • Support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary waste within business processes and identification of better ways of working
    • Identify trends and process variations as part of establishing a continuous improvement monitoring system
    • Assist in the development and implementation of a ‘best-in-class’ continuous improvement strategy
    • Collaborate with other team members and business services departments to devise new support material based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting and systems enhancements
    • Actively monitor project risks to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions to address in advance
    • Ensure the business impact and project objectives are identified, reported on and managed at all times
    • Fully complete post implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery has been achieved and to ensure that improvements can be made for future projects

Who you are (Qualifications)

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization – English and Spanish/Chinese/Mandarin is a plus
    • 5+ years proven continuous improvement analytical experience from a similar role, including project management and business analysis
    • Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Services, Logistics, and Finance
    • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
    • Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
    • 6 Sigma, Lean (Kaizens, Workouts, Process mapping), Quality Control, Vendor Management Inventory, improved productivity
    • Team value and how to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change
    • Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
    • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and MS-Project skills

Physical Standards

    • This position requires frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and operating a computer workstation
    • Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key
    • This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting
    • Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
    • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less
