We are looking for high energy people who enjoy helping customers! We are hiring at all of our store locations (Avon, Valley View, Garfield Heights, Strongsville & Willowick) with both part time and full time seasonal positions. Our typical time frame for hires is approximately 6 months, but can vary based on our season and each individuals availability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assess customer needs whether in-person or over the phone, answer questions, provide solutions, provide product information in order to familiarize and assist in merchandise selection, and provide any customer follow-up required
  • Become knowledgeable regarding the composition and application of the product line and develop the ability to promote and answer questions regarding the variety of products available to customers
  • Promote product sales by suggesting tie-in or promotional items to customers
  • Coordinate deliveries for customers
  • Accurately process customer sales and coordinate with accounting for credit applications, account issues and product look ups.
  • Maintain accuracy in closing cash drawer, completing paperwork and following all store closing and opening procedures
  • Maintain accuracy with regards to order entry for pickups, deliveries, etc
  • Proactively make store, product and team recommendations for overall store improvements
  • Maintain inventory on the shelves and assist in keeping the store clean and orderly
  • Follow all Kurtz Brothers, Inc. safety guidelines and complete incident reports immediately when required
  • Local travel to other KB sites may be required on an intermittent basis
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Complete accident/damage/incident report immediately after any accident/incident or damage occurs
  • Follow all Kurtz Bros., Inc. safety guidelines
  • Maintain a high-level of customer service to internal and external customers
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years' experience in performing general office skills
  • Two to three years' experience in customer service related work, accompanied by data entry, word processing/computer use; and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role


  • Ability to operate a computer and cash register terminal
  • Flexible to work various hours during busy season (spring through early summer)
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Friendly and positive demeanor with a focus on providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrating initiative with regards to responsibilities
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and follow through
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Friendly, positive, and willing to be of service to others
  • Able to quickly develop a working knowledge of Kurtz Bros., Inc. products and recycling

  • Proficiency in office IT suite (excel, word and PowerPoint) and ability to learn new programs/software


  • Required to sit, stand, lift, kneel, bend, type, use personal computer, telephone, and two way radio
  • Exposure to loud noises, hot/cold temperatures, dust, and other environmental factors
