Tax Manager--Trusts and Estates

Overview: Our client, a premier law firm, is looking for an experienced Tax Manager and Fiduciary Accountant to oversee the preparation and filing of federal and state fiduciary income and estate tax returns.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation and timely filing of federal and state individual and fiduciary income tax returns of high complexity, including quarterly federal and state estimated taxes as required

• Preparation of estate tax returns of high complexity

• Review of tax returns prepared by others

• Ensure substantive tax preparation, e-filing and compliance training

• Manage and oversee “peer review” of tax returns prepared by paralegals

• Ensure tax-related docketing compliance

• Manage relationship with outside vendor that provides supplemental tax preparation services

• With the Practice Director and other managers, take a leadership role with change management initiatives

• Assist the Practice Director with special projects and other duties as needed

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree in Tax preferred.

• Minimum of five years’ experience preparing complex fiduciary income tax returns and tax returns for large and complex estates

• Minimum of three years’ direct fiduciary tax experience in a law firm, accounting firm or bank trust department

• Familiarity with tax preparation software and related programs

• Ability to train and mentor

• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks

• Excellent team work, collaboration, organizational and project management skills

• Exceptional communication skills and ability to motivate and lead others

• Exhibit sound judgment to make decisions on sensitive issues

• Demonstrate resourcefulness and the ability to anticipate needs, prioritize responsibilities, take initiative and work independently
