Korean Women's Association (KWA) of Lakewood, WA is seeking to hire a positive and passionate full-time Executive Director. This Executive Director position with our social services agency earns a competitive salary of $150,000 to $180,000/year commensurate with experience and negotiated bonus. Registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1979, we are recognized for our commitment to the community, ability to reach and provide services to marginalized groups, and capacity to serve various segments of Washington state's diverse population. From the beginning, our founders knew that social services for diverse communities, regardless of race or ethnic background, through education, socialization, advocacy, and support are critical to maintaining the diverse fabric of our communities. Through the decades, we have developed numerous programs and services to serve the needs of multicultural and multilingual individuals and families in Western Washington. Thanks to our community partnerships and generous grant funding, we currently provide support and services in the areas of senior wellness, in-home care, benefits enrollment, citizenship, affordable housing, and community health navigation.

As our Executive Director, you take responsibility for our mission, vision, values, finances, and strategic objectives. Our most senior executive, you report directly to the KWA Board of Trustees and always keep them fully informed. You direct our overall operations, including our programming, community relationships, and housing development projects. Highly strategic, you regularly collaborate with stakeholders to update our plans as well track progress toward objectives. You use your people skills to seek out and build relationships with government officials, agencies, civic groups, professional organizations, the media, and fellow nonprofits.

You oversee our marketing and fund development programs. As our advocate, you attend events to represent us, effectively promoting our programs, activities, and goals. You are responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices. With review by the KWA Board of Trustees, you act as our contracting officer. Ultimately in charge of risk management, you make recommendations to the board about protecting people and assets as well as our reputation. You ensure the proper maintenance of official records and documents as well as compliance with all regulations.

You are also responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all paid and volunteer staff. Ensuring that we are perceived as an employer of choice by both current and potential employees, you maintain a climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top-quality people. Your style of leadership fosters teamwork, respect, accountability, and trust. You keep on top of all significant trends and developments related to nonprofit administration. You get a great deal of satisfaction out of ensuring that our nonprofit organization consistently provides the quality services that make a profound difference in people's lives!


  • 7 years of senior executive experience with a track record of success (preferably at a nonprofit organization)
  • Ability to develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
  • Strong marketing, public relations, presentation, and fundraising experience
  • Skilled in the assessment and development of government programs
  • Past success working with a board of trustees
  • Experience in financial management, including developing and managing budgets, cash flow analysis, and financial reporting
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Outstanding leadership skills

This full-time senior executive position typically works a minimum of 40 hours per week on Monday - Friday; however, the flexibility to represent us at events during non-traditional work hours is also needed.
