Supply Chain Consultant/ Industrial and Systems Engineer

This is a consulting position that requires elements of engineering, management, strategic planning, sales, technical writing, public speaking and customer service. The cool part about this position is that your work is our main product that our customers are paying for, unlike overhead positions in larger companies. This person will be expected to work directly with the owners and executives to figure out the best strategic and tactical approach, diagnose problems in their operations, provide a clear and concise report that justifies their recommendations, and manage the implementation of changes to processes, supply chain, systems, facility layouts, equipment and organizational structure. With mentoring, we expect the candidate to successfully manage a small staff of supply chain consultants and engineers within two years. This position will require cultivation of relationships with existing clients, and building new relationships through speaking engagements, networking and professional organization activities. This position will be given the opportunity to build a successful department that our clients want and need.

Candidate must have at least 8 years’ successful history of working with clients and managing projects making positive changes to operations and supply chains, and we will ask for examples. Experience with inventory management strategies and supply chain optimization is a plus. First-hand experience working with manufacturing operations, lean training and facilitation, and facility and equipment layout is required with strong project management experience in leading change. Distribution and logistics experience with warehouse design, material handling equipment specifications, and warehouse management systems is valuable. Supply chain optimization experience is a plus. Strong written and oral communication skills are required, given that there are reports and presentations for every project. Occasional travel is required. Strong systems aptitude and knowledge and experience with ERP systems is required. Candidate must be flexible to meet the needs of our clients and their available hours, and an entrepreneurial spirit is necessary to grow this business.

Required Education

BS or Masters in manufacturing engineering or industrial and systems engineering. MBA and Sigma/Lean Black Belt and APICS Certification are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer competitive compensation packages including salary, significant performance bonuses and profit sharing, ample paid time off, and medical coverage for employees and family. This position has high upside because it’s easy to see your monetary and growth contribution from the work you do, and profits are shared based on this performance.

Our Seattle office is on lake Union with a nice water view and a dock for kayaking or paddle boarding, close to restaurants and the Burke Gillman Trail with a shower/changing room for those who exercise during the day, and we have free snacks and fruit for our employees. Candidate will be issued a company credit card for taking clients to lunch and professional activities. We typically spend about half of our time in the office and half at the client sites.
