Department: Operations

Reporting Structure: Reports to Production Manager

Reporting to this Position: All Production Employees – 2nd. shift

BASIC FUNCTION
 

Drive production to ensure safety of the team, quality of the product, and optimal use of people and machine resources. Communicate issues and use problem solving skills to implement corrective actions with a bias for speed. Hands on management of production personnel and order processing.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively drive safe operation of production and develop safety awareness and culture in team.
  • Perform daily JSA (Job Safety Analysis)/Safety Gemba, drive safety observations and implement recommendations, enforce 5S and housekeeping procedures.
  • Responsible for compliance to all safety and environmental regulations, cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and Company issued SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals and ensure optimal use of direct labor, indirect labor, and capacity.
  • Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Direct, coordinate and assign the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as assembly, machine setters/operators and machine maintenance mechanics.
  • Provide training and instruction to all employees based on company policies, customer specifications and continuous compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Procedures).
  • Develop and implement best practices, processes, and policies to increase efficiency throughout the production utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Attend/coordinate management meetings with other departments to discuss/review current procedures and recommend the necessary changes to work methods or procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy of all system transactions and identify and correct system data integrity issues.
  • Confer with other managers/supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement/Lean initiatives
  • Lock down building daily following building closing procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels from hourly to Executive both internally and with customers and suppliers. Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing using Basic English
  • Must have basic English oral, written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative
  • Organized and efficient in time management skills.
  • Ability to supervise and manage multiple priorities, effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to conduct all activities with integrity, demonstrate managerial courage, and achieve objectives while maintaining positive relationships with all company associates and their partners.
  •         Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, bend, walk (for several hours of the workday) and use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Employee may be required to lift/move objects exceeding 25lbs.Use of vision for computer monitors and other related production equipment.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1-3 years of hands on supervisory experience within related manufacturing industry is required.
  • Lean certification/training is preferred
