Quality Engineer

Description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring consistent application of quality techniques, providing statistical information for quality improvement, and investigating, analyzing, and resolving quality problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate containment activities for MRB, RMA and ECN issues.
  • Perform failure analysis activities for internal and external issues.
  • Provide training for individuals initiating NCP tags.
  • Review and approve First Articles.
  • Assist in rapid cycle times for site-related customer complaints.
  • Identify and record problems relating to the product lines, initiate actions to prevent the recurrence of any nonconformities relating to products and processes.
  • Assist in the evaluation and qualification of new product designs and new supplier materials via a defined new product development process.
  • Support performance improvement projects in an effort to increase facility capability.
  • Participate in documentation review, approval, revision, or creation as necessary to ensure processes are properly documented.
  • Provide statistical analysis of process behavior through the use of applicable statistics, quality tools, and software as required.
  • All other duties assigned.


Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Experience working in a factory certified to TS/IATF16949, AS9100, or ISO 9001.
  • Experience with various quality system improvement tools, including 8D, Lean Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis, FEMA Kaizen, Cpk, etc.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work well in a high-volume production environment with minimal supervision.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers, customers, or corporate meetings.
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without restriction to ITAR documentation and materials.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position examining parts under a microscope
  • Ability to lift about 25-30 lbs.
  • Ability to manipulate small parts under microscope using a pair of tweezers
