Job Description

Working under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Director and licensed pharmacist, the incumbent shall train, learn and perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical functions to support the mission of KTHFS.

The Pharmacy Technician Trainee will learn the skills and knowledge required to become a  Pharmacy Technician at Klamath Tribal Health & Family Services (KTHFS) over about one year’s time.  After successfully completing this trainee position, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will have received an Oregon Pharmacy Technician Initial licensure, completed an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training course through Klamath Community College (KCC) when available,  obtained a National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT), received about one year of valuable training,  be able to apply for a Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician license, and be eligible for reclassification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician once the standard Oregon Pharmacy Technician licensure is successfully obtained.  The common duties include learning and performing the work of assisting the pharmacist in all aspects of pharmacy permissible under their Oregon license.

This will include, but not be limited to, prescription order entry, filling prescriptions, dispensing prescriptions, help maintain the drug inventory, providing customer service and performing simple administrative tasks. 

Routine duties shall include providing health care related services to eligible KTHFS patients primarily at KTHFS Wellness Clinic, but also in homes, schools, alternate job sites and other community locations within the Klamath Tribes’ Service Unit.
