Job Description: The principal of King’s Valley Christian School (KVCS) is a key leadership role with specific ministerial duties that guides and engages the vision and philosophy of the school, sets the example for professional, educational, and spiritual leadership on campus, provides accountability for faculty and staff, designs curriculum, improves school programs and instructional efficacy, and works alongside parents, teachers, and students to accomplish school outcomes. The principal of King’s Valley Christian School will be a partner at Life Church who is hired by the pastor/superintendent with Board approval. The principal is accountable to the pastor/superintendent with an annual performance review. The principal’s specific tasks include: Spiritual Leadership Develop and maintain a school-wide spiritual emphasis in all aspects of school life which fosters a strong relationship with God in those who work and attend KVCS Ensure the planned activities and programs of KVCS are performed in a manner which honors God Educational Leadership Form and cultivate sound educational goals and establish ways of evaluating progress in the lives of KVCS students Keep abreast of current, major trends in education, in general, and in Christian education in particular Oversee and evaluate the development and operation of the curricula and instructional programs to prepare our students educationally to be successful in an ever-changing world Develop a dynamic program for the professional growth of the faculty through in-service trainings, conferences, and workshops Ensure KVCS maintains the standards necessary for accreditation with Board approved agencies (ACSI, WASC) Management & Supervision of Personnel Finding and interviewing candidates for staff and faculty positions Create a healthy work environment that results in high staff morale and a low turnover of staff members who are contributing at an expert level Effectively resolve and serve as final arbiter of staff disputes, issues, or disciplinary matters. Supporting teacher instruction Providing accountability for teachers through observations and annual review Overseeing the accreditation process Conducting staff meetings Administration & Operations Management Oversee admissions program and procedures, including establishing enrollment campaigns to retain current students and to recruit new students Oversee policies and programs relating to the behavior and discipline of students Assist in discipline situations when needed Ensure that current and comprehensive technology is available for personnel and students to use Ensure that facilities, vehicles, and grounds are properly maintained, providing a welcoming and professional environment Oversee and implement policies for safe school facilities including crisis management policies and practices Ensure that the school operates in compliance with the appropriate laws of government Oversee the uses and/or rental of the KVCS facility to outside organizations to ensure that such uses do not detract from the KVCS mission or create unreasonable liability Making proposals for the school budget, including tuition and fee increases and salary increases Overseeing a committee that works on the Continuous School Improvement Plan Consulting with new families, interviewing new students, and overseeing the admissions process Performing orientation for new families Providing accountability and direction for the extended care director Providing that handbook policies are enforced correctly Supervising changes to the Family and Faculty handbooks Approving the school calendar(s) Fiscal Management Work in close cooperation with the Superintendent to develop the annual budget Ensure the financial health of the school through active involvement in setting tuition rates, planning staff compensation, and developing operation and capital budgets Ensure that the school operates within the budget, adhering to approved policies and sound business practices as outlined by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) Maintain adequate and secure records for KVCS, including a system of financial accounts, business and property records, personnel records, school demographics, academic records, and health records Marketing & Public Relations Develop and maintain consistent and effective communication with the school's constituents to promote a strong positive awareness of the school’s programs, activities, and achievements Overseeing marketing of the school Overseeing fundraising efforts Supporting parent involvement Establish and develop relationships with current families, local churches, area residents, local government, local businesses, and local media to promote relationships between KVCS and prospective families and donors to KVCS Resource Development, Vision Casting, & Long-Range Strategic Planning Develop and implement, with the Board, the school's long-range strategic plan, including campus and technology plans Develop within the KVCS community (administration, faculty and staff, KVCS families, alumni, and donors) a strong understanding of ownership and support of the KVCS mission, vision, and strategic plan Ensuring the implementation of the school’s vision and philosophy throughout all aspects of the school program COVID-19 and Pandemic Response Maintain and implement the school safety plan as required by the various governing agencies (CA Department of Education, CA State Department, Office of the Governor, Center for Disease Control, and the Contra Costa Public Health Department). Maintain a working knowledge of the rules and guidelines for schools and COVID-19 including but not limited to: social distancing orders, school protocols, staff protocols, isolation guidelines, quarantine guidelines, contact tracing guidelines, and all current health orders produced by the CDC, State, and CCPHD. Educate staff, parents, and students regarding COVID-19 protocols. Monitor and uphold all regulations. Maintain up to date files on COVID-19 regulations Oversee the school’s contact tracing program Report all positive COVID-19 school related cases (students and staff) to the Health Department by completing their online COVID-19 reporting system for schools. Report the school’s open status every two weeks to the California COVID-19 Hub online. Ensure that an updated COVID-19 school safety plan is posted on the school’s website as is required to be in compliance with California regulations. Qualifications: · Personal Relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior and attend Life Church. · Agree in principle and practice to the statement of faith and guidelines in the employee handbook and Life Church. · Master’s degree minimum in education. · Effective leadership in both classroom as a teacher and in experience in administration.
