GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Communications & Advertising Manager is responsible for managing various digital and print advertising campaigns to support Kinecta as well as supporting marketing relationships with Kinecta business units, including compliance, IT, and advertising agencies as well as media partners. This position also plans, writes, and produces internal and external communications, including but not limited to business, technical, marketing, and public relations materials in digital and print formats, which support credit union objectives. This position requires oversight of multiple projects, as well as the regular exercise of independent judgment. Projects includes a variety of advertising and media outlets annual report, member newsletters, website copy, and PowerPoint presentations.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Communications & Advertising Manager works with a minimal amount of supervision and direction and is authorized to take reasonable actions necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities of the position, provided that such action is consistent with cost-effective practices and is consistent with the policy and procedures of the Human Resources Department and Kinecta Federal Credit Union in general.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans, directs, and implements advertising and marketing promotions, including the VIP programs, in support of digital (online and mobile banking) and traditional products.
  • Develop and manage relationships with agency and media partners including broadcast TV/Radio, print, digital media outlets nationwide.
  • Plans, research, writes, edits, and packages communications to support Credit Union objectives. This includes but is not limited to internal and external digital and print publications, articles, position papers, promotional copy, business correspondence, , talking points, Q&A, and other communication material on behalf of the Marketing and Corporate Communications Departments.
  • Manage Kinecta's Intranet (Kinection) for Marcom team with support from internal teams.
  • May conduct media relations activities, including drafting and issuing press releases.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing Manager, Marketing Project Managers and Director, Marketing on advertising through digital and traditional channels including Kinecta.org, and KinectaWealth.org.
  • Develops digital advertising, direct mail while ensuring that they are accurate compliant.
  • Manages and maintains effective vendor relationships.
  • Troubleshoots issues and propose solutions.
  • Responsible for copywriting, copyediting, and input for creative design.
  • Support Marketing and Communications team during Compliance and regulatory audit.
  • Provides editorial review for both Corporate Communications and Marketing projects.
  • Collaborates with internal business units to identify their priorities; aligns Marketing activities to meet/exceed agreed-upon goals in support of business unit revenue expectations.
  • Ensures Creative Briefs are available for all major advertising and communication activities.
  • Reviews Department Creative Briefs to ensure they are in-line with revenue objectives, regulatory requirements, and reputational strategies.
  • Drafts articles for and assists with editorial planning and review of member digital newsletter
  • Responsible for managing and planning for Kinecta's annual report.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages external resources and coordinates activities
  • Performs other duties including special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of financial services industry, including industry leaders, the legislative environment, and understanding of bank or credit union marketing opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and demonstrate creativity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word and Outlook), and familiarity with desktop publishing software.

Education, Training and Experience:

Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Financial/Marketing or related field.
  • 7 + years' experience in management and marketing for a banking or financial institution.
    • 4 + years knowledge of the credit union and/or financial services industry.
  • 7 + years developing and managing content for websites.
  • 2+ years managing media and advertising for financial services.

One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • The job may require flexibility with regards to scheduling days, hours, and work location, depending on business needs.
  • The job is typically sedentary but may require standing and walking up to 35% of the work time to transfer files, ask questions, and related activities.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES, MENTAL DEMANDS, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to exercise sound judgment, effectively plan and be well organized, have excellent oral and written communications skills, work well under changing timelines, take the initiative and be flexible and cooperative. Accuracy, timeliness and maintaining confidentiality related to member, employee information and company records is required.

While performing the job duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; lift minimum 10 lbs.

The employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus to read and operate office equipment, as necessary. The employee works under typical office conditions and noise levels.
