We are seeking a Safety Manager to head a high profile government project. As a member of the Kimball Construction team, the Site Manager is responsible for overseeing daily construction related activities on the job site(s): including quality control, project safety, scheduling and management of subcontractors, ordering od materials, coordination with state and local building officials, interfacing with architects, owners, and engineers. The Site Manager reports directly the Project Controls Manager and Operations Manager and indirectly to the Project Managers. Site managers will run projects in the $3-20M range.
Key responsibilities include:
-Oversee, supervise and evaluate Foremen, Operators and Laborers.
-Reinforce company policies, culture, values and work ethic to all employees and subcontractors.
-Ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with scope of work, schedule, quality, and safety.
-Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards, address appropriately, escalate when necessary.
-Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors, in regard to quality of work or scheduling.
-Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team and work for resolution.
-Obtain and maintain appropriate licenses and certifications in pursuit of company goals.
-Review safety procedures with Foreman and perform jobsite inspections to be turned in to the Safety Director.
-Ensure tool box safety meetings are occurring and sign-in sheets are turned in to the Safety Director.
-Review project schedules with Project Manager to determine priorities.
-Review weekly production with Project Manager and communicate this information to their Foremen.
-Develop short and long-range manpower requirements to meet project schedule and budget.
-Assess needs for rental equipment and review with PM.
-Schedule subcontractors if required.
-Review long range material needs and deliveries with Foreman and PM.
-Set 3 week schedules and communicate Project Controls Manager and Project Manager.
-Receive and review Foreman’s daily reports.
-Check reports for proper cost codes, contract item numbers, quantities, labor, equipment and rental equipment reporting.
-Monitor Labor Performance Reports weekly and compare with budget. Review with PM and communicate with Foremen and/or subcontractors.
-Receive material delivery tickets from Foremen and forward to PM.
-Ensure that daily work is inspected by G.C./Owner and recorded for payment.
-Enforce all of the above for any subcontractors on site
-Contact PM on a daily basis with current jobsite status
-Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
-Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
-Review details, shop drawings, and specifications with Foremen prior to start of work
-Confirm that materials and installation meet the details and specifications and that the items and / or job are complete
-Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
-Recognize potential change orders and coordinate with PM for tracking, coding and follow up with owner / GC.
-Opening the jobsite at beginning of the day and securing the jobsite at the end of the day.
Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
-At least 5 years of documented Construction Superintendent/Site Manager experience with a GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
-Minimum of 2 years experience on government sites
-EM 385 Required
-Proficiency with computer software programs MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion
-Must have valid driver's license and have acceptable driving record, background check and clean drug test results
-Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job including the ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, the ability to climb ladders, negotiate construction work areas. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
