Kezar Life Sciences (NASDAQ: KZR), a clinical-stage biotechnology sciences company located in South San Francisco, is seeking a Sr. Manager / Associate Director, Project Management-Clinical. The Sr.
Manager / Associate Director will report to the Head of Project Management and will manage one or two asset-specific cross-functional project teams. The Project Manager is partnered with a stage specific project team lead and will support all phases of asset development from preclinical to commercialization. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, goal-oriented environment and enjoy working with team members across Kezar's rapidly growing company.
Kezar is developing first-in-class small molecules to treat serious immune-mediated diseases and cancer. KZR-616, Kezar's lead clinical asset, is a selective inhibitor of the immunoproteasome and is currently being evaluated in multiple clinical trials. KZR-261, Kezar's first oncology asset, is an inhibitor of protein secretion pathway via the Sec61 translocon and is currently being evaluated in a large Phase 1 trial.
RESPONSIBILITIES Manage one or two asset specific project teams so that all project team and corporate goals are met. Effectively work cross-functionally with all members of the project team to achieve these goals as well as encourage strategic long-term planning. Support cross-functional meetings, including the creation and distribution of meeting agendas and minutes, and drive completion of action items.
Ensure good meeting disciplines are continuously maintained (with supporting documentation) so that there is a clear logical record of events for each project or partnership. Coordinate project team meetings ensuring cross-functional alignment and communication between the project team, project sub-teams, and goal specific working groups. Establish and maintain functionally integrated project timelines.
Support corporate multi-asset 5-year strategic planning. Ensure project team activities and decisions and project status are clearly communicated, documented, and archived. Proactively identify project risks; conduct gap analyses, and prepare mitigation and contingency plans.
Assist with the building of systems, processes, and tools to facilitate business planning and decision making. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Science or Management related discipline with 2-4 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry or research-focused academic environment, with a demonstrable broad understanding of drug discovery and development practices. Structured thinker, strong organizational bias.
Ability to implement structure without impacting efficiency of team. Masterful communicator, utilizing tact and diplomacy up/down hierarchy and across matrix. Self-motivated and self-directing to deliver the core responsibilities of the role and motivated to learn and expand skill-set beyond the scope of the role.
