We are seeking a highly-skilled, excellent, and all-around wonderful human being to serve as an Associate Attorney in Key West, Monroe County, Florida.
Compensation:$75,000 - $90,000
Responsibilities:- Case Management. Serve as the primary attorney with nearly complete autonomy in representing defendants in County Court and Circuit Court in Key West, Marathon, and Plantation Key
- Court Hearings. Attend all court hearings - in-person or virtual - and provide top-notch advocacy
- Legal Writing. Draft persuasive motions and supervise and approve the paralegal's drafting of notices and basic motions practice
- Teamwork. Embrace your role in our legal department and collaborate with our marketing team, intake team, and legal assistants
Our perfect candidate will have:
- Florida Bar Membership. Active membership with The Florida Bar
- Experienced Criminal Defense Advocate. Our Associate must be able to hit the ground running. We need a competent criminal litigator with extensive experience in criminal defense. You must have an excellent working knowledge of Florida criminal statutes, case law, and procedure, excellent verbal and written communication skills and courtroom prowess, strong aptitude in analyzing cases, developing case theories, and strategies, and evaluating the best resolution for the client and his or her future
- Positive Energy. We have a strict No Negative Policy, which includes our teammates. We are looking for a positive, compassionate, fun person, who we will enjoy working with and who our clients will like to have in their corner. Life is too short to work with jerks. No drama allowed
- Compassionate and Empathetic Outlook. Much of the job includes helping arrestees navigate the criminal justice system. You must be able to treat clients with empathy and compassion, especially when they are stressed and scared
- Technology Savvy. You must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, email, and basic computer skills. And, you must be able to learn new programs. (If you’re the kind of person who has decided that you are not good at technology, this isn’t the firm for you.)
- Communication Skills. You must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Research Skills. You must demonstrate strong research and analytical skills
- Time Management. Strong time management skills with the proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
- Team Player. You have the ability to interact effectively with others – able to follow instructions and be open to ideas, suggestions, and criticism
