SUMMARY: Responsible for procuring donations for thrift stores and other retail locations through effective and targeted donation solicitation, to include organizing neighborhood donation drives, working with local businesses and/or corporations/manufacturers to obtain clothing, furniture, household, scratch and dent, and overstock product, etc. As an ambassador for the organization, will conduct business through calls, correspondence and/or visitation to potential product donors by performing the following:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Compiles lists of prospective local businesses and/or major retail stores for use as donation leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet web sites, and other sources.
Organizes donation drives in targeted subdivisions, contacting homeowners' associations if applicable, in an effort to establish "neighborhood clean outs" - donations of items from residents. Requests permission, and arranges for utility trucks to be on site for immediate pickups. Utility staff to be on site to assist with donations and provide tax deductible receipts.
Contacts major corporations/manufacturers to solicit donations of overstock, scratch and dent, returned and/or damaged goods for resale through thrift stores and/or Labels.
Identifies and contacts new furniture manufacturers with the goal of purchasing items on closeouts or bulk buys for resale through the thrift stores.
Contacts large local retail chains, such as Target, Big Lots, etc., regarding donation of merchandising items - shopping carts, grocery bags, etc.
Contacts and makes outreach to local funeral homes and banks for home clean-out service.
Travels throughout assigned territory to call on current donors and prospective businesses to solicit donations, or talks with businesses on site or by phone.
Provides information and/or literature about the Key Training Center and its mission to prospective donors; arranges thank you letters/donation receipts as required.
Prepares reports of business contacts for Retail Operations Director.
Enters new prospect data and other pertinent information into computer database.
Develops and maintains relationships with donation contacts.
Attends trade shows.
Investigates and resolves donor problems with pickups.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Florida driver license with safe driver rating required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and efficiently with staff members and the general public.
Good working knowledge of computer applications, such as email, Microsoft Office, etc.
Emotional stability and maturity with a genuine interest in working with the public.
Capable of working a flexible schedule; adapts to "short notice" changes in work schedule.
Willingness to comply with in-service, training or other mandates.
Ability to work independently or unsupervised.
